Hi, I'm on Clomid at the moment. I took it for 6 months to concieve my daughter and so now I can only take it for another 6 months before I'll have to try something else or give up.
The first time just one tablet worked every time. But this time around it hasn't worked so I'm going to have to take 2 tablets a day for 5 days, so double the dose.
Does this meen that with a double dose, I'd only be able to take it for 3 months ? It would make sence. This would of corse reduce my chances of becoming pregnant again hugely, but I don't want to risk ovarien cancer or any other nasty effects of over use. I'd rather have my health than another baby.

MLL

Do you have a diagnosis of the underlying problem?. I ask this as clomid is often given to women who present with ovulatory problems.

You should be able to take the two tablets for another 6 month maximum course although clomid should only be given for a max time of six months anyway. You need proper medical advice first and foremost. They should really now be looking into alternative treatment options for you. I take it as read that you are under a gynae's supervision at hospital (well I hope so!) rather than a GP.

Side effects reported with clomid include breast and bowel discomfort - it certainly does not increase the risk of ovarian cancer. Again for further reassurance discuss with the gynae.

Hi, I've been perscribed Clomid as I don't ovulate very frequently. I don't know why, they have never given a reason. I am under Gynae's supervision at the hospital and go for mid cycle scans etc.
I will ask when I go for my next scan, how long I can be on the Clomid for. (Especially if the 2 tablets hasn't worked)
I'll also find out what other treatments options are available. My Husband also has a lower than average sperm count, just to make things more awkward.
Thanks for answering my thread, and sorry I've only just replied.

Usually such problems occur because of hormonal imbalances. They should be checking to see if there are any thyroid problems or whether you have a condition called polycystic ovaries. Both can cause infrequent periods and problems with ovulation.

I've had blood tests and she just said that it shows I'm not ovulating. I think she said the hormone balnce was o.k. I'm sure she mentioned small sists on the overies.
