Anyone else have experience of 2% morphology - what did you do?

Hi all - we've just found out after 2 years of ttc that my DH has 2% morphology. Motility is 41% and density is 43 million.

We have a 4 year old - can't imagine how!!! - we've been referred to an NHS assisted conception unit.

What are the options for us - is treatment the only way forward. If so, will it have to be ICSI or can we have IUI. I'm starting to do some research and just don't know what to do.

I'm 36, DH is 37.

Hi rdt,

My dp found out in July that he had low morphology (2%) and low motility (35%), he decided to make a few lifestyle changes, not that he smokes or drinks heavily, but he has cut out alcohol and caffenine altogether,he takes a variety of different vitamins that are good for sperm issues, and also has accupuncture every other week, he had another sperm test done in October and it was completley normal, his morphology was 26%. It takes 3months for lifestyle change to take effect on sperm, but from our experience it is well worth a try. We were actually due to start IUI in October as this was the advice given to us, was told to try 3 rounds of IUI first then move on to IVF if we has no luck. They tend to try IUI first as it's less invasive, and cost alot less than IVF, and although the success rates are lower there are many people on here that have been succesful with IUI. I am sure that the doctors will give you advice as to what your options are, but please don't get down about it, again there are many people on here that have gone on to fall preganant naturally with similar sperm issues.
