Hi all, have had such good advice i thought i would see if there is anymore based on my current results.

i had Docs today, all tests -thyroid, PCOS, negative and chlosterol was good, liver function normal, and all hormones on hormone profiles fine, so going back for CD21 blood test, (handily enough came on sunday so not long to wait) to check if i am ovulating. If i am then DP will be tested, if i am not then i expect it will go to the clomid route? anyone know any other tests i can ask for at that point? I took your advice Atilla and pushed for a referral but they said i cant have this till after the day 21 test, however the fact that i am having periods(however far apart) and that ive been pg before, are positives According to the doctor.

Just wanting to know really where i stand if i am ovulating but still having trouble? assuming of course there are no probs with DP. Are there any other steps i can take? If my weight were affecting my cycles then would it stop them completely, or would i really benefit from loosing weight in this respect?

help appreciated as always! x

Hi BB

Did the GP compare the level of LH against that of FSH?. If this was not done then this should have been. Hormonal levels can appear "okay" if only looked at separately; it is only when the levels are compared that any abnormality is seen.

Clomid should ideally be prescribed by the gynae rather than the GP as monitoring (blood tests and or ultrasound scans) should be done whilst on this drug treatment. Your issue to me is not a problem that should be messed around with by a GP.

The day 21 test should ideally show a result of 30 or over; if not this would indicate that ovulation did not occur that month.

It is important that you try and remain within the correct weight range for your height as excess pounds can exacerbate problems.

Something is certainly causing the irregular periods to arise and you should be referred as a matter of course. I would also see if an internal ultrasound scan can be arranged to see if there is any sign of polycystic ovaries. An internal scan would give an overview of your uterine cavity and ovaries.

HTH a bit, any other questions just ask

Attila x

thanks Attila, I think they did a comparitive test, when i get the reults of the ov tests, i will push for both a referral and a scan for further problems, regardless. what bothers me is that everything seems to be too much trouble for a GP you really have to push to get any proper help, thanks for all your advice tho x
