Welcome everyone from this thread and sorry about the atrocious pun in the new thread title

Many thanks to DarrellRivers for starting the original thread, and to everyone who's contributed so far - the success stories in particular have kept many of us going I'm sure.

Roll call:
LemonyAle, 36, TTC#1, cd26 (o'd cd19 - fingers crossed for a long lp)

Did anyone else hear the Southern Counties Radio feature about 'older mums' yesterday afternoon? It was lovely

Thanks for your hugs and kind words ClareDeLoon, HC, spats, Jools and PictureThis.

Spats - I hope the Agnus Castus does the trick (tho I've read that anything from 10-16 days is considered normal) and you get in the mood for all that bd'ing soon. Good luck with the GP tomorrow - let us know how you get on.

Great news on your test results PictureThis. Hope your day-21 ones are good too.

I commented to someone yesterday that I was really glad that noone on maternity had been in work with a newborn as it probably would have made me cry and then today there were two. They were both so adorable and I didn't cry at all. I did turn down the offer of holding one of them though, as I thought that might have started the tears.

Babydust to everyone xxx

ClaireDeLoon · 26/11/2008 08:55

I finally got an appointment to get my test results - so intrusive at my doctors though, last week when I tried to get an appointment she asked what for and I said test results (well, its just not nice to go blurting out 'infertility' is it). She said oh I will look them up for you and then said they were fine. I asked what the levels were and said she didn't know she wasn't medically trained - so how the hell did she know they were fine? Turns they had no appointments left anyway. Today when she asked I said blood tests and onward referral.

Must remember next time to be ready 'it's private actually'.

CoteDAzur · 26/11/2008 10:46

Thank you, PictureThis. 13 weeks and I dare hope that this will be a sticky one - a boy, apparently

DB called yesterday and SIL has had a miscarriage. They are devastated She is only 32 and hopefully will see a BFP soon. I am just so scared that it might happen to me, too.

PictureThis · 26/11/2008 11:12

I think it's perfectly natural to be worried to some degree about miscarriage when you're pregnant. It's always worse when it happens to someone so close to you. Your poor DB and SIL, how awful for them.

When I was pregnant with DD I was paranoid about everything. I'm a midwife and was a gynae nurse in my previous life so I had a fairly squewed (?sp) outlook on pregnancy and birth anyway. She's now 20 months and I just find other stuff to worry about

HumphreysCorner · 26/11/2008 17:42

CoteDAzur-so sorry to hear SIL had a MC. Been to that dark place and not nice. Please don't worry. A boy eh?

ClaireDeLoon-aren't they nosey and unhelpful sometimes at the Drs. GGRRRHHH!!!

DPO 13 CD 21 so expecting AF any minute now I am on my new 21 day cycle. As soon as AF arrives I am going to make an appointment at the Drs as at my age (39) they should see 8 cycles as being quite a long time.

Hi to everyone else.

PictureThis · 26/11/2008 17:50

8 cycles is perfectly reasonable I think and I'm sure your GP will too. Do you feel premenstrual then?

RubysTheBoss · 26/11/2008 18:35

Hi there girls,
just having a peep at your thread. How lovely you all sound!

Could I join you, please?

I am 38. Already mummy to DS 9, DS 6, DD 4. Was sterilised 2.5yrs ago, wanting to have it reversed as desperate for another.
However, I keep thinking that I may be the 1/200 who gets pregnant anyway.

Been 'practising' like mad this month, and have been very lightly bleeding for last 3 days (AF not due till weekend)! Silly me did a test today-BFN (surprisingly).

So thats the score!

Nice to meet you all.

HumphreysCorner · 26/11/2008 18:41

Ooh welcome RubysTheBoss. That is a big step to take and I hope it is a successful one. Stick around won't you and let us know all the gory details.

Yup PictureThis-try as I might I can't find any PG symptoms only AF ones. Ho hum!

ClaireDeLoon · 26/11/2008 18:59

Welcome Ruby!

I am a bit about the docs Humphrey as although my FSH/LH and progesterone levels were OK the doctor wasn't happy and said the locum I saw hadn't sent me for enough tests - now I need thyroid, kidney, liver, diabetes and repeat hormones and then when I go back in 3 weeks he wants to give me an internal examination because he can't refer me on without that. There's something to look forward - 17 December, I can't wait

HumphreysCorner · 26/11/2008 19:24

I would be a bit too Claire as all I want checking is my levels and eggy production. Not liver etc.

PictureThis · 26/11/2008 19:28

Hello Ruby, welcome to the thread.
Claire, your doctor is being very thorough. Sounds to me like he's covering all bases and then some!

dharma · 26/11/2008 20:28

Hi everyone - I have not posted in a long while, but nice to see this new thread up and running - well done lemony!

Have been reading all posts in an attempt to keep up with what's going on!

Jools - really sorry to hear of your mc - mine was back in august and so sign of any bfp's yet! Still - fingers crossed - you never know.

And good luck to anyone else starting out too!

So I am 37, with a ds 19 months and TTC no.2. Have not had much success in 11 months of trying but then again I did have a mc so I guess that's a positive, ironically!

My gynae has put me on ovulation tracking this month, and it's CD12 today, and my follicles look ready to burst (TMI??!). So hopefully it will time to BD in a couple of days!

PictureThis · 29/11/2008 19:50

good luck this month Dharma

Issy42 · 29/11/2008 22:31

Hi all. ClaireDeLoon - your doctor is being very thorough. I've not heard of anyone having an internal exam to be referred. Congrats on your pregnancy CoteDAzur. I'm really amazed how soom they can tell the gender now. My friend got told at her 12 week scan that she's 70% likely to have a boy. Hope AF stayed away HC. Welcome Ruby. Good luck Dharma, hope those follicles come through for you.

Just wondering if anyone on the thread has had IVF? Having my last attempt at IUI next week and nurse has advised that if that fails then I should really move to IVF.

dharma · 02/12/2008 19:21

that's funny Issy - I have just come back from seeing my gynae (Day 18 and no ovulation yet, so I think I will bang this month on the head) and we talked through all options, and I think that come January/February, we are going for IVF. I just think, you know what, life is too short, and as I am not a spring chicken any more, it's time to get serious and get on with it.

so I will be able to fill you in a lot more next year - and in the meantime, I have one more cycle to give the natural way a good go!

jellylegs · 04/12/2008 14:06

hi every one.....just caught up there was a new thread.....Was on old one a long time ago and sadly here I am again. I miscarried last week after TTC no 3 for 8 months. I am very sad. Now am also on miscarriage page as still bleeding and feeling low. Need some inspiration. Just read Jools1 and sounds like a similar experience. Had been pregnant for 2 months(even thought of a name-stupid I know) and then started to bleed. Blighted Ovum????? It is horrendous. When will i feel better?????xx

Issy42 · 04/12/2008 22:59

Jellylegs so sorry to hear about your mc . There's not much more that I can say, so just sending .

spats · 05/12/2008 16:24

Hi jellylegs, i remember you from a few months ago, sorry to hear your news, you must be so gutted, i really feel for you.

I am in the 2ww. Had blood tests done on wed after begging GP, said i had been trying for 6 months only 4 really!! My progesteone was within the normal range for luteal phase which i think is the 1 needed to be checked at this stage. The SH was a bit lower than the reference range but i am not sure wether this is OK for the luteal phase. My next lot of bloods are when AF arrives and i believe this is when the LH and FSH are important, anyone know? x

JingleJools · 05/12/2008 16:47

Hi Jellylegs - sorry to see you back in such sad circumstances

Not sure if it helps, but I am utterly convinced now that you just need to allow the hormones to leave your system - then you can resume some semblance of normality and try to move on.

My MC was Tues Nov 11th - I did some work at home on Nov 20th and 21st which was sort of OK, then went into work properly the next week, including a business trip away. All was OK till the Friday night (2.5 weeks after MC) when I fell into the bleakest deepest darkest depression - it was really quite scary looking back That lasted till Sunday and I dragged myself out of it by keeping incredibly busy.

On Tuesday of this week, 3 weeks post MC, I did a PG test with FMU that was so faint I could consider it a BFN - from then, I've had more energy and generally felt more normal and less emotional. Sooo, I reckon you should do a PG test once a week and will know that, once the hormones are gone, you will start feeling better again. I don't think anyone ever gets over this completely, but it slowly becomes part of your past and you can move on iyswim

I hope that helps a bit - sorry it is a bit long

I'm now desperate to TTC and had OV pains right on my regular schedule on CD16 which surprised me, but I'm pretty sure no egg was released as my boobs normally get quite bloated and sore along with my stomach, but there is nothing So, I'm hoping that either this is an anovulatory cycle and AF will arrive next week, or OV has been delayed and I can catch an egg before Christmas ! Getting impatient though - desperate to be PG again (I have 11 months to have a baby before I'm 40 !!)

PictureThis · 11/12/2008 11:43

Ok, so I've been using the Clearblue Fertility monitor this month. I'm now on Day 22 (had bloods taken yesterday) and so far have only had high fertility readings on the monitor, no sign of ovulation .

This thread has been a bit quiet, hope you are all doing ok and that we have some good news soon.

jellylegs · 17/12/2008 16:03

HI everyone.Issy42 and Spats thank you for your kind words.........I couldn't respond sooner as I too went quite low....bloody hormones.....Jingle Jools you are right-its 3 weeks on & I feel a little brighter. Have to contend with a urine infection on top of it all though. On anti biotic s so few days left.

This was found at my after scan. I was so lucky to have such a lovely leading nurse.....her words of kindness just hit the spot, I blubbed which felt like a relief. She then said I was going to ovulate in the next couple of days!!!!

Is anyone else struggling with Christmas cheer....think its time to watch 'Its a Wonderful life' . Hope all of you have a good Christmas.....god knows we all deserve one.xxx

JingleJools · 17/12/2008 16:18

Hi Jellylegs I'm glad you're feeling a bit better It really does take time, and every few days I realise how much better I'm feeling emotionally - there is still room for recovery even when you think you are back to normal - you just don't even realise it till your mood lifts again - if that makes senses

On Sunday morning, I felt like I'd ovulated and was suddenly on an amazing high - a really fantastically good mood ! Saw pink tinged EWCM that day and got confused - obviously too early for implantation and how could I have AF coming if I'd just ov'ed

Still spotting - barely need a pad but it still keeps stop / starting 3 days later. Hoping against hope that I ov'ed earlier and this is implantation but too heavy I think. Trying to keep hold of that good mood and high energy but really don't know what my body is doing at the moment !!

I'm really bloated aswell - so much so I feel really self conscious and fat

PictureThis · 19/12/2008 00:19

I'm devastated. I've just had my results for day 21 bloods and I'm not ovulating . I had a suspicion but to be told feels like a kick in the teeth.

I know it's not the end of the world. I do need to lose some weight so that in itself might right things. I'll go back to my GP after Christmas for a chat and formulate a plan of action. The worst bit is I feel like I've let my DH down.

CoteDAzur · 03/01/2009 16:43

Best wishes to all for a wonderful new year. May there be much baby dust and BFPs for everyone in 2009.

(And bumping the thread, hoping the silence means that everyone is too happy in RL to bother with MN )

spats · 09/01/2009 20:56

This must be the quietiest thread ever!! I haven't been on MN for about a month as thought was getting obsessed with ttc, symtom spotting, downing load of grapefruit juice and popping lots of vits. Anyway back and now officially allowed on this thread as was 35 on 20th Dec, am officially a statistic for women whose will find it harder to concive - great!! AF due anyday, where is everyone else?
