Trying specifically for a boy or girl - gender selection kits

I apologize if there's a thread on this already, but I have a lovely DD and want to start trying soon for a boy. I have seen on-line various "gender selection kits" which seem to essentially involve ovulation predictor kits. I have also spoken with a friend who said to just make sure that you have sex on the day of ovulation, if you know what day it is from basal temperature, etc. Has anyone used the kits or specifically tried to have a boy/girl with success? Please let me know if this thread already exists. Thanks!

I was reading the initial comments with horror. And then realised it was from 2003. Still though, I'm assuming lots of people actually still think like this. After just coming out the other side of my second mc this probably wasn't the best thread to stumble upon. I'd just like a baby please!

Also, Pibbee... 😂 Brilliant. Let's hope!

Sorry Mummyw, entirely missed your comment. Each to their own. Best of luck for the future. No hard feelings intended!

Don't be so dramatic. Many people have a preference before the baby is actually a reality. It's extremely extremely rare that a baby is loved any less for being the less preferred gender once they arrive.

Well that's my point really - you're going to end up with one of two outcomes (if all goes to plan) and it will be what it is, regardless of your preference and you will love it all the same. I also think my second comment showed that I meant no harm by what I said - we all have our own journey.

Mummy join the forum on the ingender website, lots of very knowledgeable people on there.

It isn't extremely rare that parents react negatively to a baby that is not the gender they hoped for. Which is why girl babies are discarded in some countries. And why aborting a foetus on the grounds of gender is not allowed at least in this country. I don't know if that applies where there is a gender related condition.
I personally know some one who told their baby boy repeatedly that he should have been a girl.
It's vile.
