Ok sooo.....here it goes...my last period (periods are usually a little irregular between 32- 40 days) was May 25th and last 5 days and was heavy the first two days and then got lighter like normal but then (this has NEVER happened to me before) On june 7th I spotted a light pink color only noticed when I wiped after going to the bathroom and I was really confused since I just got of my period but it only lasted about 4 or 5 hours....... then this period started on July 3rd and was lighter than normal I wouldn't say spotting but it wasn't as heavy as it should have been and it lasted until July 5th with a tiny bit of spotting on July 6th but only when I went to the restroom and right after I had sex sooo my question is has anyone experienced this and turned out to be pregnant??? I am scared to take a pregnancy test just because I don't want to see yet another - it will just make me super sad and I don't know if I am just getting my hopes up.

oh and here are some other weird things that have happened between periods... One night I woke up out of a dead sleep feeling like I was going to get sick so I sat on the bathroom floor eating crackers and drinking water till it passed, going to the restroom more, and always sleepy, and my boobs usually get fuller or heavy right before my period starts then they go back to normal the day I start but they are still heavy or fuller..... I really hope someone can give me some insight!

babytime · 08/07/2008 13:27

I need some of your positive vibes, I am such a bug wuss with BFN's

Big hugs

Ashuct · 08/07/2008 13:30

PrettyCandles thanks! I know I thought so too but hey my body just may be playing tricks on me

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that if I don't get a BFP by my doctors appt. then he will say "Oh my there is no need for clomid, Your Pregnant" That would be GREAT!!!

Babytime, I go through my bad days trust me but after 2years of ttc I guess I have realized that I will do all thats in my power but anything past that is out of my hands and if its meant to happen it will when its supposed too....I know sounds super weird considering its the most important thing to me (to be a mother) but it only makes it worse to stress out...I've done that too

Ashuct,

Am sorry to read about the negative result.

I would say to you that irregular periods are often caused by hormonal problems. In this regard a condition called polycystic ovaries is a common problem. This affects ovulation. I note you are going to be given clomid - you ideally should be monitored whilst on it as it is quite powerful stuff. No monitoring is not ideal at all as you will have no idea whether its doing its job or not.

Have you not as yet been referred to a gynae at a subfertility unit?. At 2 years of ttc without success there is likely to be a problem with either one or both of you. Both of you should be tested to find out what the exact problem/s is/are.

I would not keep testing in the meantime, it can be disheartening to say the least.

Ashuct · 08/07/2008 13:42

Attila we did all the testing about a year ago and everything came back normal that there was nothing wrong with either one of us... My doctor is going to do the basic tests again before giving me the clomid but it that doesn't work then he will be referring us to a specialist. I guess I stopped with the testing about a year ago just because I thought ok so we aren't the normal couple and it will take us a bit longer but hey we have time right....well patience is running out now and ready to move forward.

Thanks for the encouragement and insight on the clomid Attilla

Oh FYI hahaha I don't think I ever mentioned this but... I am 25 and DH 27 so this is another reason why we thought that we had time to let nature do its thing before we went back to the doctor to start medications but as we have found out nature may need a lil kick start

Hi Ashuct

Any test results done over six months ago should be discounted. My guess for what its worth is that something was missed when the original tests were done - hormone levels should be compared against one another for a start and that was probably not done. As you're now being given clomid there may be some ovulatory problem like PCO.

I would not actually be too happy to take this drug treatment (clomid) without any diagnosis beforehand. If you are not being monitored whilst on clomid that is a no-no and you should be referred as a matter of course to a specialist.

Most couples go on to conceive within a year of trying; at two years of ttc without success there is likely to be a problem with either one or both of you. Gynaes, generally speaking, like to see couples if they have been trying for a year without success. You should be referred now to a subfertility unit. I would insist to the GP that you are referred asap without using clomid (as you also have no diagnosis either to date and it may not be suitable for you to take) and particularly if you will not be monitored whilst on it.

Hello again

When you say you had all the tests did you have a laporoscopy (sorry cant spell it) my friend had this after trying for over two years and they found small amounts of scar tissue and lazered them off and she fell pregnant the first month after that. All the previous tests she had were totally normal, where they inject dye into you womb etc...

You probably have but just thought I'd mention it.

Ashuct · 08/07/2008 15:06

I have done the laporoscopy haha I can't spell it either.... and it came back normal

babytime · 08/07/2008 15:33

you'vr been through it all

how about putting it on hold, take a holiday together and drink and eat lots... try to not try, has worked for others but easier said than done i guess.

Ashuct · 08/07/2008 16:21

Thats kinda what we have been doing... But yes its always in the back of your mind. It will happen soon I can just feel it unless i'm going crazy lol

Ashuct,

Why did they do a lap?.

A lap operation is often done as well when endometriosis is suspected (a lap will usually detect endometriosis, all other tests will not).

And now they're going to offer you clomid?.

My guess is that they've never properly evaluated you to see if hormonal imbalances (like thyroid imbalance or PCOS for instance) are the root cause of your irregular periods.

Seek a diagnosis first and foremost - you need that now. Do not be fobbed off!!!.

babytime · 08/07/2008 18:01

my friend was offered clomid too first

Ashuct · 08/07/2008 18:23

Attila I was told it was part of the routine tests that are done.... But after talking to everyone I am really thinking about getting a second opinion

OP posts:
AttilaTheMeerkat · 08/07/2008 18:38

Hi Ashaut,

Was the lap done by a privately run clinic or was it done under the NHS?.

Would certainly suggest you get a second opinion from preferably another NHS run subfertility unit.

A lap can be part of a fertility investigation but it should not have been done initially and or without good cause (if endometriosis is suspected for instance a lap is performed).

Ashuct · 08/07/2008 20:08

A privately run clinic is where all my testing has been performed. I was told if they did not find anything they would refer me to a specialist. But that is where I stopped and now I have an appt to go back there in august. I am currently looking into some specialists in my area as we speak! Thanks so much I am really new to all of this and thought I was on the right track
