TTC again after 2 miscarriages

Hi everyone,

I’m currently going through my second miscarriage in as many months. I fell pregnant for the first time in March and miscarried naturally at 6w2d. We then fell pregnant again straight away without a period in between but unfortunately this was another miscarriage which resulted in a d&c due to a suspected partial molar pregnancy this week. I know we have to wait for histology/monitoring before TTC again and this is likely to be a few months but I’m wondering if anyone has any suggestions of things I can do to maximise our chances the next time around.

I’m almost 34 so starting to panic that time isn’t on my side. I do have PCOS but this is mild and that is really my only significant medical history aside from some mild asthma/eczema. My BMI is technically normal but I’m trying to lose a stone anyway. Supplements wise I’ve been taking folic acid, high dose vitamin D, omega 3, coq10 and myo inositol. When I fell pregnant the second time I started cyclogest pessaries which I got privately. I was thinking of maybe adding in baby aspirin next time around although I’m not sure on the dose of this? Are there any good supplements my partner could take?

We eat well and exercise so it feels like we’re doing everything right but it just isn’t working out and it feels very disheartening. My GP ran some bloods after the first miscarriage (FBC, thyroid function, liver function, kidney function, b12 and folate, testosterone levels, coagulation screen and antiphospholipid antibodies) which all came back normal so there’s nothing glaringly obvious wrong but I need to feel like I’m doing something if that makes sense!

Ah poor you, I’m really sorry about your losses.

It sounds like just bad luck to me, and I’m sure you’ll get some better luck very soon!

Maybe worth trying Myo Inositol? I got pregnant quickly first time (missed miscarriage), then the next time (my son) took quite a few months and I got very anxious. When he turned 1 I started myo inositol and I got pregnant on the first attempt this time round! Never even got a period back after his birth as I was bfing. 16 weeks now and going well so far. I have mild PCOS too, though no insulin resistance and low BMI so no one had suggested Myo to me before, I just asked Chat GPT and it said worth a go. Could well be coincidence but if you want to feel like you’re doing something…!

Hey there

I'm so sorry to hear of your losses. It's a really really tough time. I'd recommend taking a little bit of a breather and allowing your body to grieve and adapt. Being repeatedly pregnant and then not can take its toll mentally and physically.

I have personally had 3 early miscarriages and 1 termination. All first trimester. However, i am also 38weeks pregnant and currently cradling my 2 year old in bed. The consultants never found anything wrong with me... but did also prescribe me cyclogest. What dosage were you taking?

In my current pregnancy I was also on baby aspirin, 75mg a day. No idea if it made a difference but I took it anyway.

The good news is, that you CAN get pregnant. I know that might not be helpful now but it's the bigger hurdle in fertility. You can get pregnant, the consultants just need to figure out how to keep you pregnant.

It is a truly heartbreaking time so please mind yourself.

I'm so sorry about your losses, it's extremely difficult. I had a similar situation of a miscarriage then sn ectopic pregnancy which meant we had to stop trying for a few months. I actually enjoyed it and felt like I returned to myself for a bit. I now have 2 DC who I actually had no medication for/ during.
