Hi all. I am 7dp5dt and I have been testing since 4dp5dt and have had bfns. When I research online it says it would be normal to not get a bfp on a home test until 9dp5dt but I struggle to believe it because everyone on Mumsnet seems to get bfps much earlier. Am I out?

That's equivalent to 12dpo am I right? If so, 12dpo is four days before your missed period (16dpo). Look on the box for the specific test you used, and see what the accuracy rate is for four days before your missed period. Also usually this accuracy rate only applies if you do the test with FMU and haven't peed in the night!

That’s a good idea! I’ll take a look. Thank you.

It’s not technically the same as 12 DPO, it’s just really early to test due to when adhesion and invasion takes place. Whilst HCG may be detectable as early as 7DPT, it’s not unusual for it to take longer. Hang on in there!🤞🏻

12dpo would be 2 days before the “average” missed period. Some people may have a 16 day luteal phase (I believe anything 10-16 is classed as normal), but the official dating is based on 14.

The average luteal phase is 14 days. The "day of your expected period" is therefore 15dpo. The "day of your missed period" is 16dpo. These are the terms pregnancy test manufacturers use.

I’d never thought of it like that! Thanks for explaining!
