I struggled with recurrent miscarriages before I had DS. And I’m watching “Babies” this evening, it has brought back some of the memories I thought I’d never revisit.
I had tests and investigations after the third miscarriage and for two years went through the most desperate time trying to get pregnant and hold onto it.
Finally we decided to move on and start living our lives again. We booked several holidays and made plans to go to the Caribbean to watch the test matches. Six weeks before we left I found out I was pregnant. I was fully expecting to lose it and my GP organised scans before we left. All was progressing nicely and later that year DS was born. We alway wonder whether his love of cricket is the result of me being immersed in cricket at a crucial stage of his development.
One bit of advice my gyni gave me was that we have two cycles, the obvious monthly one and a second bi yearly cycle. When we looked at my extended family babies were often born in clusters or sixth months apart. My mum had two of us in April and one in October. My sister had her youngest daughter on my birthday and my DS was due on my sisters birthday.
I have cousins ( sisters) who were due on the same day two years apart. My other cousins were born end of Jan and beginning of March.
I work in healthcare and frequently see patterns in families I see.
My gyni suggested looking at the most fertile months in my family and target them since they are likely to be the most successful months to conceive when all the stars align. I’m not talking about the woo stuff but the hormone levels and the condition of the womb lining.
in my immediate family the super fertile months are July and January/February. They worked for my DM and my DSis and I. One of our nurses at work had all her children in No ember. My DH is born almost exactly the date as hs older brother but 5 yrs apart. Their younger brothers birthdays are a month apart., and approximately 6 months from the older two.
January conception give winter babies, in ancient times mum would have been well nourished through the summer and able to feed babies through winter. July conceptions are born at the beginning of summer so will have benefited from being fed in the summer months preparing them for winter.
It’s not an exact science but many mammalian species follow similar patterns
Do a bit of research on your own family patterns to see if there may be certain months that increase success of conception.
