Hycosy - what to expect?

Having a hycosy as part of fertility investigations (nhs) after an ectopic loss. Anyone who has had one - how painful is it, will they check my tube only or anything else such as uterus and will I get the results immediately? Any tips welcome!

I felt minor discomfort during. Afterwards I had really horrible period-type pains and felt a bit sick for about half an hour and then I was completely fine!
Ours the Dr said immediately that the tubes were flushing ok etc so they should be able to tell you.
I had mine privately so not sure what the NHS procedure is for ultrasounds.

First time I had it I found it very uncomfortable. Second time I was expecting the same, but it was totally okay - no worse than a smear. I’d had a full term pregnancy in between, so I don’t know if that explained the difference. Or if it was my significantly improved mental state. Or something else.

Results straight away. I had it done privately but hopefully NHS will be the same.

Good luck @pinkrose001 💐

I had read about how painful it was, and I find cervical smears incredibly painful (I screamed and cried at the most recent one)... so I was absolutely dreading it.

Genuinely, it was 0/10 painful. I was SO surprised when the doctor said she was finished as I honestly didn't think she had started.

The dye was a bit cold but absolutely no pain.

I didn't have any blockages, which may have contributed to the lack of pain.

Oh and I fell pregnant 2 months after, following a year of TTC. Good luck!

@HattiesBag thank you so much for sharing this. I find smears horrible too and have been winding myself up something silly worrying about a hycosy but I'm going to keep this in my mind and never read anything else about it again lol x
