No period for 61 days while TTC baby 2, can I still conceive?

I am currently on day 61 of my current cycle, no period since mid January. I have always had very regular and heavy periods and then out of the blue they have just stopped, of course when I am TTC for Baby #2. I went to the GP who said she isn't worried because I appear fit and healthy, am only 29, and because I have conceived before. She said if I still have no period by early April then she may run some tests but expected my period to come this week (it hasn't).

My concern is that I just don't know whether I am ovulating, I don't want to splurge on ovulation strips as a colleague told me she found them unreliable, and I also have no clue where I am in my cycle so would have to do them every day until I figured it out... so is there even a chance I can get pregnant?

I have seen that you can trigger a period by taking some medications and just wondered if it might be worth requesting this? I have never skipped a period before let alone gone two months without one. I almost just want to reset my cycle because I feel very lost and worried that it won't happen.

Try myo intisol it can restart stopped cycles (did for me!)

@Hagner1234 I seen a few people mention that! Do you have to take it long term or just until it triggers a period? And if you don’t mind my asking did it help you conceive?

Ovulation strips only cost a few quid off Amazon.

stompinthewoods · 21/03/2026 19:29

@EmPeEf I am a bit unconvinced as a colleague of mine used them religiously while TTC and then was told by a consultant that they aren’t always reliable! I may have to give them a go, but would I have to do them every single day until I got a positive result?

I hadn't had a period for almost a year and it returned with 21 days. I took it for a few months (not daily once my period arrived) and it regulated them and I stopped taking it altogether. I took it before trying to conceive and then did conceive quite quickly when trying. Good luck!

@Hagner1234 oh wow that’s fantastic! I have actually just ordered some today after getting another BFN this morning.

Sorry so did you take it daily until your period came, and then start again once your period stopped? And do you know how long you took it before conceiving? ☺️

@stompinthewoods re ovulation strips, nothing is '100%' reliable, but these strips are one of the most reliable methods of tracking ovulation. Even as someone with pcos. The only thing more reliable is an ultrasound scan. Try them, they work.

As for restarting periods, take progesterone birth control pills for a week and then stop, that induces a bleed. Also thanks to my pcos, I do this from time to time.

Sorry I didn't see your response. I took it four a day for about two weeks, then after my period went down to two a day and then roughly two every other day and then fairly sporadic. I started in the Jan and my period was fully regulated by the August even when I stopped taking them (bearing in mind it's never been very regulated and I had some stress during that time, my period usually goes totally haywire when I'm stressed). We then conceived within a few months of trying. When we try for baby 2 i will start taking a few months before.
