Hi guys!!!

I’m 24 and have decided to start TTC with my fiancé (28). I’ve smoked cigarettes for years and then switched to vaping — probably around 7 years on nicotine in total 😅.

I’m now nearly 2 months nicotine-free and just had my first proper cycle since quitting. My cycles used to be super irregular — usually around 45–50 days — so it’s been a bit all over the place for me.

I’m curious to hear from anyone who:

  • Conceived after quitting smoking or vaping
  • Had menstrual issues or conception difficulties related to nicotine use
  • Noticed their cycles or fertility evening out after quitting

Also, if anyone knows roughly how long it takes for cycles and fertility to normalize after quitting, I’d love to hear your experience!

Thanks so much in advance for sharing your stories

My cycle i just had was 37 days and started off spotting now full blown period. Also my partner has given up weed and nicotine aswell.

Have you seen your GP about your irregular periods?

Nicotine use doesn't generally cause irregular cycles AFAIK so there is likely another cause to this.

Most of the benefits to fertility would happen from quitting smoking rather than vaping, although it's great you've done both. There is some limited evidence that vaping specifically can prevent the womb lining from thickening optimally. However, most of the research we have is on smoking, not vaping.

I would see a doctor about your cycle lengths as I don't think quitting is going to impact them.

Yup! have had scans smears, bloods etc. Couldnt find anything been like this for years so they put it down to being normal. I never miss a period, periods arent painful. Normal amount of blood just long cycles really.
