Blocked fallopian tube removal

I just wanted to see if anyone on here had blocked fallopian tubes and had to have them removed before proceeding with IVF? I’ve recently had a HSG which confirmed my one remaining tube is completely blocked (I lost my other to an ectopic pregnancy). I’ve been told that there is evidence of fluid in the tube and because it can’t escape, it could harm any pregnancy I may have.

I'm feeling like I’ve got an endless road ahead waiting for surgery and have no idea how long I’ll be waiting to have it removed. On top of that, I’ll need to recover from surgery for a few months before proceeding with IVF.

hoping someone may be able to share their experience!

I am in the same situation- I have no experience to share, I'm still waiting to find out if they're happy to remove it, but you're not alone x

I had two ectopics, I had one tube removed, was due to get the other out on a precautionary basis however I went privately as I heard about a private dr that sometimes could unblock the tube using the HSG procedure (I was a while ago - I think he pushed the dye through at high pressure) anyway it worked. I went on to have twins and a singleton.
I am not sure if this is helpful.

Wishing you all the best on your journey! I really hope they are able to remove it for you. I’m only able to proceed with removal because I paid privately to have a HSG which is frustrating. On the NHS they only offered a scan which they told me there was no fluid.

I’m so happy this worked out for you! Unfortunately I already had the HSG and they didn’t attempt to unblock it. I wish that was the case for me, but removal is my only option.

I had a hydrosalapinx (sp?) which is fluid blocking the tube and I had to have it removed before IVF as the concern was the fluid maybe toxic and could hinder IVF success. I had it removed in very straightforward day surgery and went on to have successful first round IVF. I did still have one remaining tube and went on to spontaneously conceive DS when DD was 18 months.
For me having it removed was a definite positive we'd TTC for 5 years before IVF and whilst the tube may have had nothing to do with our failure it certainly didn't harm having it removed.
Good luck x
