Hi all. I am ttc since last November with my husband. Have never had children, have never even managed to get pregnant to my knowledge despite getting various bloods, ultrasound and sperms analysis done so no reason as to why we shouldn't have got pregnant yet. I have a short enough cycle averaging 25 days could be less. Only thing I'm concerned about is i dont get strong results on my LH levels with ovulation tests. I do get a peak but it's never super high looking at the app. Can anyone else suggest what we could try? I was refused from fertility hub) Ireland) because my BMI is too high, I need to lose about 1st 7lbs before they will see me and 3stone 7lbs before id be considered for any free treatment I.e. ivf/iui. Etc. Have paid out of pocket privately for tests to date. Thinking of doing private for another ultrasound and maybe Ovulation induction treatment but trying to see if anyone else is in same boat and concieved naturally before going down this route.

Hello, have you had your progesterone checked day 21 of your cycle to make sure you’re actually ovulating. I’ve been ttc for 4 years now and an after several gps telling me my hormone test results are normal I finally had a gp suggest to test my progesterone, I found out I wasn’t ovulating. Like you I also get darker results on my LH strips but never darker than the control line

Hey. You mention being 3.5 stone over the limit for NHS IVF. Usually that's a BMI of under 30, so I'm guessing that means you are 3.5 stone away from a BMI of 30? That can have an impact on fertility (I am overweight myself, I do understand the struggle). As a process of elimination, if the bloods, sperm and US look good I would consider checking your fallopian tubes, and also looking to see if you can lose some weight for fertility. Even if you can lose the first bit you will be eligible for further investigations, so I think it would be worth doing.

As PP has said, being overweight can have an impact on Fertility (not always but there is a pattern there that suggests there's often an impact). One of these impacts can be that you don't ovulate (at least not every month). I'd recommend trying to lose some weight and see if it does help (because you'd need to lose it anyway to access free treatment, might as well get ahead and it may help!). I say this as someone who couldn't get pregnant for 2.5 years and everything in my tests looked fine..
Until I lost around 3 stone and then conceived a few months later.

Hiya, yeah i have (twice!) But both times it wasn't done at the right time because day 21 only applies if you have a 28 day cycle. Mine is 25 days or less and no one told me til after. Gonna book in again to see. GP said the number indicated i had ovulated but it was low as it was done 3 days after I should have got it done😅

For me it was calorie deficit, steps (started with 1k more than what I'd been doing before and steadily increased it) and strength workouts 3 times a week.

Be careful with the calorie deficit - you need to make it manageable and sustainable so you can keep at it long term. Don't deprive yourself of all the foods you love! Just have to eat in moderation. Increasing protein intake helps you to stay full. The first time I lost the weight I got an online coach to help structure my workouts and keep me accountable, as well as helping to work out my calorie deficit.

You could also look at GLP-1s if you chronically struggle with losing weight, you might find them a helpful tool.
