Hycosy

Hi,
Can anyone recommend a clinic in the north west of England that can do a hycosy as a standalone procedure with a GP referral? Everywhere I’ve spoken to insists that I have a new consultation with the usual tests but I’ve already had these done on the nhs so reluctant to pay to have them repeated.
Thank you!

Hi just wondering where did you go to for this? I am in exactly the same position and when ive asked the question on other forums I dont get much response. Hope you got sorted x

Hi @ThatCoralExpert thanks for replying. I haven’t found anywhere yet, debating about whether to pay for the tests as it seems like I don’t have much choice if I want the procedure done but it’s a lot of money for something I’ve already had done! Hope you found somewhere soon!

Have you tried North West Fertility? Simon Wood is the consultant there, he done my hycosy through the Hewitt but said his waiting times at his clinic are a lot less (and he’s cheaper about £500 rather than £600+) not sure what tests they need beforehand.
I also emailed a Manchester clinic called Manchester Fertility and they didn’t need any pre tests but did need a referral from a doctor or GP so try them.

Thanks both. I'll try Manchester Fertility tomorrow as I do have a GP referral letter. I'm considering somewhere that I can have a consultation aswell as I might look into Letrozole again. Wasn't prescribed it before due to BMI (which still hasnt changed but that was their restriction because it was NHS) xx

The Hewitt in Liverpool is £220 for a consultation and £660 for a Hycosy. They can offer Letrozole which is about £30 odd per cycle but if they have to monitor you for ovulation whilst taking it, it costs £400+ for scans and tests for monitoring. But there are some cheaper and quicker clinics about if your paying privately. I’m currently under the Hewitt but looking to move to a completely private clinic just because of timing really x

@ThatCoralExpert i did try Manchester Fertility, they initially said they would do a Hycosy with a GP referral but when I went to book it, they said I had to be under a gynaecologist and have an ultrasound report less than 6 months to even consider doing a hycosy. They said I needed a consultation and initial tests with them if I couldn’t provide this which I think was £390 plus the hycosy which was about £600.

@TigerLily04 just wanted to say thank you for the recommendation, I have just had a hycosy at North West Fertility with just a GP referral and it showed all clear :)

@clazbear thats great news and glad you got it done. Keep my fingers crossed for a little new year surprise for you 😊 I contacted them with my GP referral and they are happy to get me booked in. They said I needed to not have any unprotected sex the entire cycle so it looks like itll be after my next period in a couple of weeks. Just hoping christmas holidays dont get in the way.

How much did they charge?

clazbear · 09/12/2025 17:37

@ThatCoralExpert it was £580 which was the cheapest anyone quoted me. The consultant was Mr Ellard and he was great, very efficient, the only thing I would say is that there was no report or anything to take away, but I guess if everything is fine you don’t really need that!
