TTC with PCOS

Hi all, I’ve recently been diagnosed with PCOS. I’ve been TTC with my husband for the last 3 months, conceived first month but ended in chemical. Since then I’ve had some intermittent bleeding separate from period which prompted investigations and then my diagnosis.
Looking for any sort of advice or reassurance really - they say 1/10 women have it, but would love to hear of any advice to help manage my cycles or encourage ovulation. I’m being referred to possibly have clomid to encourage ovulation, but that could take quite a while. Still reeling from the diagnosis and what this means in terms of conceiving and also my general health….

I take myo inositol and metformin for pcos. My cycles were extremely irregular but have regulated more in recent years. I have taken those for years. I cant say they helped regulate my cycles at all but I did find lots of exercise encouraged regular ovulation.

I did clomid too and it didn't work for me. It didn't even make me ovulate until the 3rd cycle.
I then got pregnant naturally months after but ended in a mc.
My only son is from ivf although we just completed another ivf cycle in hope of a sibling and ended up pregnant naturally ( missed miscarriage unfortunately)
I'm now trying to regulate my cycles again following that. I have found in the past vitex has always helped regulate my cycles so I'm going to start that again. I also think a massage around the ovaries with castor oil helps and red raspberry tea. They do for me anyway. All of the above must be stopped once you ovulate. I also found fertility reflexology and accupunture also helpful. Interestingly the months i fell pregnant I was doing those things

I was put on the pill to regulate my cycles and then told that I would have highest chances of ttc in the few months after coming off it.

I followed a low gi diet and took aspirin when I did get a positive test.

We TTC for 12 months and when that didn't work I found out via an ultrasound I have PCOS. We tried Clomid and that didn't work. I was told the only next step for me was IVF and that was a 2+ year waiting list.

So I could feel like I was doing something instead of just waiting around I paid for an appointment with a dietician she reviewed my food diary and went through it with me explaining how food affects those with PCOS and what I should change and how it would improve how my body reacts to food

Straight away I had two regular cycles which was unheard of for me then pregnant by the third.

I think my GP and the fertility consultants ruled out advising any changes to my diet at the start as I was a size 10 and went to the gym five evenings a week.

I conceived both mine on 1-2 attempts. I had had irregular cycles for years and years but a low gi diet, supplements and metformin regulated my cycles and when I was ready to conceive it worked like clockwork.
Really lucky obviously. My GP never mentioned weight to me as I was normal weight but I still needed the low gi diet to ovulate etc

My cycle lengths have always varied. I noticed I could be spotting before periods and no clear ovulation peak each month. I have taken myo inositol tablets the last 3 months and have managed to see a clear peak using LH strips. I take the My Ova brand. Was put on metformin by GP to try but couldn't handle the severe nausea it gave me. Definitely look at diet as another poster said as I think eating the right types of foods supported my ovulation too. Best of luck x

Wow thank you everyone for such helpful and detailed responses!! I felt a bit overwhelmed with the diagnosis but really appreciate all your advice. I’ll look into a low GI diet and also try and get better with my exercise. I’m not super overweight but probably a bit too high BMI so hopefully getting that down will help too. Thanks again ❤️

In case it’s helpful - I conceived DC1 after a couple of months of doing a low carb diet (which brought me from “overweight”
to within “normal” BMI), taking Ovasitol and drinking spearmint tea 2x a day.
I had very long cycles of 50+ days but conceived on the first month of a “normal” cycle where I ovulated on day 18. Ovusense core helped me track temperatures and confirm ovulation.
I’ve just started TTC DC2 and am starting to follow the above regimen!
