Could this be a chemical pregnancy?

I first tested Saturday 5pm @ 9dpo and got a faint line on Sainsbury’s own brand and another faint line on a clear blue a few hours later.
Tested Sunday midday and got a much clearer line but still faint.
Tested Monday around 3pm and got a very clear line.
didn’t test again until this evening. I’m now 2 days overdue for my period so expected a clear strong line but it seems about as faint as when I tested on Sunday.
My test from this evening:
This is the Sainsbury’s own brand test that says you can test 5 days early. Is this too faint for 2 days after period is due?

You should only compare lines on the same brand using FMU. Given this is the evening it's really hard to draw any reasonable conclusions. I would test again with FMU and see the difference. It is faint and if the FMU is the same then I would personally be a bit worried I think - but unless you have bleeding then based off this one evening test I wouldn't be concerned.

@MocktailMethank you for replying! I tested with fmu with a clear blue digital this morning and got 1-2 weeks, I think I would expect 2-3 weeks as I’m 3 days overdue for my period now. I also got these lines on CB

1-2 weeks at 4+3 isn't really unusual, yet. It doesn't matter what the HCG starts at it matters whether its rising appropriately. You can only track that through bloods though.

Do you have any symptoms like bleeding or pain? If you do, contact your EPU and they will take bloods for you to monitor the rise to check as if it isn't rising properly you could might be having an ectopic pregnancy. I've had two, and had pain and bleeding with both.

If you haven't had any pain or bleeding then I think I wouldn't be doing anything just yet - whilst those lines aren't blazing they certainly don't look obviously chemical-faint to me. Did you track ovulation and confirm it? Because if you didn't you might not even be 16dpo.

It still could go either way at this stage but I know exactly how awful and stressful the first days/weeks of early pregnancy are. Try not to hyper focus on it as much as possible, and remember there isn't anything you can do to change whatever will be, so just be kind to yourself and look after yourself.

Thank you, I really appreciate your input! I haven’t had any bleeding but have been cramping basically since ovulation. My breasts are still very tender this morning which is reassuring that hcg isn’t dropping. I don’t track ovulation but know when my last period was (11 sept) and going based on that. You’re definitely right that whatever will be will be and that’s what I’m trying to focus on at the moment ❤️

So today is only CD30. Without knowing when exactly you ovulated that's actually reassuring. If you ovulated CD14 yes, you would now be CD16. But for loads of us ovulation shifts around - a 'normal' cycle is anything up to 35 days. If you hadn't got pregnant you might only have been due on tomorrow.

If the cramps are one sided, call EPU. If you have any bleeding also call them. If not I would test again only on the same brand and only FMU to compare in 48 hours.

@MocktailMethe cramps are just like period cramps really and not one sided thankfully. I had them with my son so that isn’t worrying me. With my son the lines were very very dark very early on so I think it has just raised alarm bells! Will test again in a few days and hopefully it’s reassuring. Thank you so much again ❤️
