Bfp 5 weeks after miscarriage but bleeding

I had a miscarriage at 8 weeks, on 02/09. I had some spotting on 24/09 which I thought was my period, but it only lasted a few hours. Today, I thought I'd do a test as haven't had a period yet, I got a strong bfp but as I went to wipe I'm bleeding fresh red blood. I'm very worried, and unsure whether this is a new pregnancy or leftover hcg causing the test to be positive. I've managed to get a scan at EPU tomorrow but really would like to hear any success (or not so happy) experiences in the meantime to prepare myself.

Unfortunately this won’t be helpful for you but I’ve had both situations. With one of my MC I had on and off bleeding for 11 weeks and positive tests until I passed a big lump of tissue. With another MC I started spotting with what I thought was AF turning up the cycle starlight from the MC but turned out to be an implantation bleed with my DS.

if you haven’t tested out the hcg to negative from the miscarriage there is no way to know.

good luck at the EPU I hope it’s a new pregnancy for you 🤞🏼

I tested positive for around 6 weeks after my miscarriage. I hope you got some positive news.

Hopefully the EPU will offer you some repeat blood tests to check your hcg levels and see what the trend is over time. Unfortunately, you can continue to test positive for longer than you might think after a miscarriage, and like @mummatara has said, if you didn't test negative between the miscarriage and now, there's little way of knowing.

Doing repeat blood tests 48hrs apart will indicate what's happening - whether levels are continuing to drop down, or if they're rising. The EPU will also be able to assess based on that trend if there are any other things to be concerned about.
