Pregnancy after ectopic

Hi wise mumsnetters, I guess I’m looking for some positive stories.

We had an ectopic pregnancy in June last year which resulted in the loss of one of my tubes.

We are blessed with 1 DC at present but long for a second. I would consider myself quite fertile but I’ve read that tubal loss reduces your natural fertility by somewhere between 15- 45%!!

We've tried for the first time this month for DC2 but have been unsuccessful, I know, it’s only one month, but time isn’t on our side.

So I’m hoping for some positive stories or advice from others who’ve been in a similar position, and how long it took you to conceive again?

Hi @Aaaallthefood, I didn’t want to read and run! Sorry for your loss and the awful experience.

My first pregnancy was ectopic but it was resolved with expectant management so I didn’t lose a tube. I got pregnant fairly quickly afterwards (not ectopic) and went on to conceive quickly again for baby number 2.

I read that a fallopian tube will sometimes move to the other ovary to “collect” the egg if the other fallopian tube is missing! Wishing you all the best 🤞🏻

Hi,

Sorry for what you've been through. After I had to have a tube removed, the consultant told me that if you were fertile before it shouldn't affect your fertility. For me, it turned out to be true.

I had my tube removed in August 23, after one month recovery I started trying again. I was pregnant again in October but had an early miscarriage... Immediately after that I got pregnant again, and in August 24 I had my baby (with a due date the same date as I had my surgery!)
I tracked ovulation (somewhat obsessively) and took my vitamins to help but clearly losing a tube made no difference to my fertility.

Good luck to you.

@ByDreamyMintNewt thanks for this, your words are helping in a time of anxiety! Sorry for your losses, and congratulations on your little one 🥰. Can I ask what vitamins you’d recommend I should be taking?

I took the pregnacare before conception vitamins and also took evening primrose/starflower oil (but stopped once I conceived). Fingers crossed for you!
