Hello,
I'm 13 months pp, still breastfeeding.

I thought my period came back on Ds' first bday, with bleeding lasting 4 days. So far no other sign. Have been using ovulation strip tests, which always come back negative.
I recently started pregnacare conception supplements.

We will start trying for a baby next month (not actively trying until now) but I feel something's off.
Any advice on how to proceed is very welcome.

If you search Carol Smyth she has lots of useful information on breastfeeding and fertility.

My understanding is that it's not uncommon for the first few cycles after breastfeeding to be non-ovulatory. But then ovulation should return so I would keep testing.

Thanks for this!
I'm going trough the articles now, minus the very technical details.
I am adding here that ds is eating 3-5 times a day but still loves breastmilk.

Hello again,
I had a ob-gyn appointment yesterday.

I did a transvaginal test and an ultrasound scan.
I have multiple small cysts on one ovary and a couple larger ones on the other ovary.
My endometrium is thin, and I was told my body is trying hard to ovulate but period will probably take a little longer.
Breastfeeding is probably intervening with ovulation too.
I was told to take inositol supplements, alongside the usual conception tablets.
Of course remaining calm and stress free is key.

Not sure what else to do but this waiting game is killing me.

Thank you for this post I am still breastfeeding and ttc with no luck, I dont think i ovulated this month, zero signs! Did they give you any other advice? Did you get a referral from the NHS or go private? Thanks so much!

Hi @Apricotmuffino
I went private abroad in my home county. Been going to the same doc for more than 10 years, before even wanting children. Now, I told her I want another couple of children and was worried about how easy conceiving naturally at my age (34) with pcos would be.

She was very relaxed about it though. She just recommended not to obsess over it, and be patient. No need to think how hard it could be or check fertility treatments (at least not yet).
For best results the most convenient timing for dtd is every couple of days from day 10 to 16-18.
And finally what stuck with me is how different we all are. Out bodies, our health, our priorities, need, wants. There is everything and everyone under the sun and we can achieve great things.
