I have a 1 year old and had a miscarriage at 6 weeks a few months ago this is my first month ttc again. I ovulated on Monday 11th and have a wedding Friday 22nd so about 3 days before my period Is due.. should I test on Friday .. If I’m not pregnant I would have a few drinks but also afraid of finding out I’m pregnant too early incase I have another loss .. but would feel guilty if I drank and found out I was pregnant .. any opinions would be helpful thanks 😊

I think the earliest you can realistically get a positive is 8 or 9dpo. An embryo won’t implant until at least 5dpo and then it takes a few days to make enough hCG to be detected by a pregnancy test.

Also though, the placenta doesn’t ‘get going’ as it were until 8 weeks pregnant. I’m not condoning drinking whilst pregnant but alcohol won’t pass to your baby until 8 weeks pregnant.

I’d say to have some drinks; you probably are best off not testing early and upsetting yourself if anything goes wrong. Just don’t test and have fun at the wedding!

I have been pregnant many times OP, 3 DC and many losses. Enjoy the wedding, don’t don’t test early. I have not drunk a drop of alcohol from ovulation and miscarried and i have drunk loads on holiday unknowingly in early pregnancy and carried to term.

Obviously I’m not saying get legless but a few champagnes to toast the happy couple won’t hurt and you won’t have to deal with people noticing you not drinking. I’ve never been a fan of testing early through my own experiences but you do what you’re comfortable with OP at the end of the day.

Agree with the other posters. Don’t bother avoiding drinks just in case you think you might be pregnant. Any alcohol you consume affects your body as a whole, including egg reserve. It’s the healthy decision to make to improve your egg quality and your body overall when trying to conceive. Abstaining during just the two week wait isn’t going to do much.

Alcohol is more likely to negatively affect your future eggs than it will an egg making its way to implantation or actually implanting.
