We are going to start ttc in October this year, anyone else planning to start end of this year too?

Any particular reason why you are planning this exact window to TTC? Children conceived Oct-Dec will all either be summer babies with potential difficulties at school due to always being the youngest in the class, or if conceived more towards Dec may be September born with almost as many difficulties due to always being the eldest and perhaps bored/held back if more advanced in their development than the rest of the cohort. It's the window to avoid ttc in my view. Unless time is critical as your 30s are slipping away, it's better to conceive any time Feb to Aug, with Jan&Sep ok.

In the kindest way you really can’t prepare or worry too much about all of this - I’ve had losses before my DC1 and it doesn’t always happen straight away. You can’t live your life like this, especially if you’ve had fertility issues before!

I am 29 so age not an issue

I have lots of kids and honesty nothing of the sort as PP mentions happens at school. Bullying happens regardless of when you were born. I found that comment bizarre. Anyway I think its great your preparing yourself, maybe your health, finances, house and what not before actually ttc. Who cares when you start trying its all the same in the long run, the end goal is to have a baby. Start when your ready . Hopefully there will be a few people also starting to their journey around the same time and can share their their guidance and journey with you. I'm already in the middle of ttc through ivf.

As someone who has been trying for the best part of a year, I would ignore this comment and crack on with your plan! I'm sure you have your own reasons for starting TTC when you are OP and good for you. If only it was as simple as 'planning' your babies birthday. What a luxury that would be 😂

Good luck and as I'm sure you know, get going on the folic acid now and you'll set yourself up nicely. Wouldn't hurt taking a bit more notice of your cycle in the meantime too.

Yes that is what I was going to ask actually! Is anyone starting their prenatal tablets before ttc at the end of the year!

I also found that comment insensitive, obviously the poster doesn’t know my situation but it is a real luxury to decide which month you will be giving birth. When you have fertility issues and have lost babies you just can’t plan to miss certain months to avoid your child being youngest in class. I actually can’t even begin to say how stupid that post was

Possibly going to TTC #3 at end of the year. Though the prospect still sounds scary-ish.

Also planning to try in October, and just looking into prenatals. will be our first, I’m 34 already so need to get cracking but big international trip soon I won’t cope with if I’m feeling tired and sick. Saw someone mention how yes an August born is young but that’s about £15k of childcare fees saved by dropping a year, which would pay for a lot of tutoring and support 😂.

the only real month I’d try to avoid a birth is December and early Jan as it’s just so depressing to have a Christmas birthday.

I agree OP. What a terribly unhinged comment from that person...

TTC is stressful enough without having to overthink and worry about things like that.

Do what's right for you, Mumsnet is full of bat*hit people.
