Hi, I'm 43 TTC #3.
I'm about to draw a line under #3.
But I'm thinking about taking loads of supplements etc for maybe 3 months to give it a really good go.
What would you all recommend?
Tia

Myo inositol
ubiquinol
omega supplement
zinc
vit c

check your ferritin level and TSH

Get enough protein

Reduce stress, sleep more if not sleeping enough, don’t go long periods of time without eating as getting too hungry isn’t helpful when ttc, gentle exercise eg if you run cut down or stop and brisk walking instead.

Ubiquinol and a really good preconception multivitamin.

Although I'm not sure how much of an impact ubiquinol would have over three months, you'd be more likely to see the benefits from months 4-6 onwards

go on holiday and get really, really drunk, seems to work well for people who don't want to get pregnant!

Thank you for all of this 💕

Folic acid .

Do you think this helps with conception or is it precautionary for the protection / development of the potential baby?

If sex by itself worked I'd already be pregnant

It's not going to help you get pregnant but it is crucial for overall reproductive health and prevents neural tube defects in a developing baby.

Great, thank you ☺️

This might sound TMI, but Evening primrose oil taken from Day 1 of your cycle to ovulation helps to encourage fertile cervical mucus to make things more “welcoming” for his swimmers.

Great, I hadn't heard that before 😁
(I think when it comes to TTC there's no TMI!)

Vitamin D. It helps regulate hormones. Folic acid, it’s good for egg quality.

I took both of these and got pregnant when I otherwise wasn’t able to. Good luck :)

There is no decent evidence to support anything beyond folic acid, vitamin d and a regular multi vitamin (just check its one safe for use in pregnancy as some contain vit A). A bog standard supermarket multi vitamin is absolutely fine, you’re just paying for packaging and marketing with the more expensive ones. The only other thing it might be worth taking is ubiquinol. The evidence is still pretty scant but there is a possibility it might help. As per a pp you need to take it for at least 3 months before it any potential effect though.

I had 3 miscarriages in a year then started taking ubiquinol, vit D, folic acid and alpha lipoic acid (that was for reduced inflammation I think?) in January, got pregnant in April and so far so good 🤞🏼 also a low inflammatory diet/med diet
Of course it could be a complete coincidence! 😅

After having sex lie on the bed with your legs up against the wall , it worked for a colleague of mine, Dr winston recommended it years ago on this morning, gravity helps the swimmers apparently!

PrincessofLiechtenstein · 21/07/2025 08:05

Get your OH on a load of supplements (Good quality male conception vitamins and ubiquinol) and make sure he is doing all the things he need to for sperm quality like cutting back drinking, no cycling, loose boxers etc

BritishDesiGirl · 21/07/2025 18:39

Vitamin C 1000mg, Vitamin D3, Folic Acid , Coq 10 at least 500mg, Myoinositol,

bumblebeedum · 21/07/2025 18:42

Vit D high dose.
BUT I would double check your levels before throwing supplements at it, you could be making it harder for yourself if you end up having too much of something.

2 Brazil nuts a day. Worked for me in my 40s!

OK so my list is extensive.

I have a BFP from this cycle Day 10-11 DPO

I use OPKs and timed intercourse three days - one before peak, day of peak and day after
I used a bit of preseed
To get my cervical mucus in a good condition I took high dose probiotics and DHEA, I used mucinex throughout the three days to thin the secretions.

I read Dr Mindys book ‘fast like a girl’ and followed the diet to the letter - I seed cycled Follicular and Luteal Phase.

I am a yoga teacher so did light yoga and excercise daily.

Following sex I put legs up the wall.
To keep progesterone levels up post ovulation I commenced Vitex

I take pregnacare max, an additional DHA 1g, additional folic acid 400mcg, additional Vit D 1000iU, Acai Berry supplement, Aspirin 75mg, Co-enzyme Q10 high dose, DHEA 25mg, additional Iron 14mg with Vit C. I used topical progesterone in the form of Yam oil twice per day.

I went for fertility acupuncture on the day prior to ovulation, and cycle day 7-8 to aid implantation.

I listened to pregnant possibility spotify daily affirmations and meditation.
I am not sure out of this extensive list what made the difference but I to think the acupuncture has been the thing to tip the balance.

I am 38 and started TTC in May - I fell pregnant on the first cycle but ended in a chemical that took 7-8 weeks to complete: so this is my second cycle. I do not smoke and take limited alcohol, normal BMI. My husband took vitamins this cycle but as he was taking then for a short while before we conceived I am not sure it made much difference?

I am planning to reduce the DHEA and Vitex - continue with supplements and light excercise and my acupunture.
