IVF on PCOS?

Dear moms, was wondering if anyone has had an experience of having SA or IVF with PCOS? I have 2 massive pcos cysts on both my ovaries which my doc from my home country is trying to get rid of with a combination of the pill and metformin. But I went to a fertility doctor in London (NHS) and they told me to go straight to IVF? Without even doing an ultrasound and checking me in any way? And I won't go into detail as to how this person treated me and spoke with me....

Yes.
I have pcos and 2 children via ivf.

My pcos meant I didn't actually ovulate so needed help. We did ovulation induction and got pregnant but had a late loss and then an ectopic. We only moved to ivf because of the ectopic and increases risk of having another.

Cysts tend to come and go/ change in size. IVF involves an insane number of scans. On my first cycle the baseline scan showed a very, very large cyst which the drs actually decided to drain rather than abandon the cycle so there are work arounds.

Thank you for sharing this and congratulations on your 2 kiddos! Did you also experience rude consultants? I mean...rude to the point that I left the hospital in tears

The odd dr was rather blunt, but I wouldn't say rude.

I found the more senior the more understanding. I did slightly lock horns with a junior dr I wasn't particularly impressed with who came across as quite judgemental but by my that stage I'd had a loss at 5 months, a ruptured ectopic and a complicated miscarriage at 8 weeks and wasn't rolling over on something she didn't agree with - I wanted to pgta test the embryos (at my cost) we had before doing another round of Ivf

Unless there is a reason for ivf (age, medical reason etc) then I'd try ovulation induction (clomid tablets) first. Again you'll need regular scans but a walk in the park compared to ivf.
