Hi
Sorry I am such a novice at this.
I am ttc my 2nd with just doing the deed regularly without any of the temping, opk's etc.
Do you think this is okay I mean I don,t know if I do actually ovulate or not.
Do you think its possible to ovulate anywhere in your cycle.
Would I be wasting my time doing the deed for instance on day 25.
Also I have been having irregular cycles.
I suppose that I want to make it as stress free as possible.
However I am anxious has it has been 8 months now and I am 37.
It worked for me last time like this but of course I was only 29 back then.

Hi

I am sorry but I don't have the answer but just wanted to say I do sympathise. I am 36 and conceived 2 children very easily on each occasion. I also had a 28 day regular cycle but now it ranges from 23 - 31 days. I did use OPK's this time which indicated I ov+ on day 14 but period arrived on day 24??

Just to let you know that you are not alone being confused!

I am TTC no 2 and have been temping and using OPK's and have found that whilst my cycle is generally 28/29 days long that ovulation has so far occurred on days 13 and days 17 (temping 3 months including this on).If you have stress or a variety of other factors, your ovulation can be delayed or with certain medical conditions your ovulation can be very irregular. Have you thought of temping, it might give you a better idea as to what is going on and take some of the stress (or maybe not?!) out of the process.....

Taking into account your age and the length of time you have been ttc, plus the fact that you state your cycles are somewhat irregular, I would advise you to go to your GP's straightaway and see if they can get some bloods done to check your hormone levels.

You could chart one or two cycles in the meantime if you wanted to provide some 'proof' that either things are/aren't working, but I would still go to seek help sooner rather than later.

Long/irregular cycles don't lend themselves to OPK's, so I personally wouldn't waste the money if I were you.

Good luck!

Hi
Just to say I sympathise and identify with a lot of what you're all saying, Choccaddict esp. This TTC process is bonkers. Feels like my body is a stranger that I thought I knew well.
TTC #1 at 35 for 10 (irregular!) cycles. Have tried to be chilled but now starting the OPK (tomorrow!) to chart & get a bit of control before getting referred for all the testing malarkey in Aug.
Best of luck to you!

Would fully agree with Squack's response; having irregular cycles means you are less likely to ovulate regularly if at all.

Your age is also a factor as generally speaking fertility does decline with age. Many gynaes like to see women over the age of 35 if they have been ttc for six months plus without success.
