Fertility referral. One last try

I’m thinking of making an appointment with my gp to discuss a fertility referral. I have one living child. In the past 3 years I’ve experienced a chemical pregnancy and 2 ectopic’s. (One medical management and one surgical) both on the same side. The last one being in feb when I walked away one fallopian down. Took a few months to heal mentally and now I’m ready to try again. My other tube was checked during surgery and they said it all looks good, although the ectopic side also looked good and they couldn’t see a reason for it to have happened twice. I’m only 29, healthy bmi. No obvious reason for fertility issues. Realistically even if I get the referral is there anything that can be tested/done to help me? By the time the last ectopic was found (despite being scanned from 5 weeks they couldn’t find it until closer to 7) surgery was my only option. I feel I have one good shot. 1 more ectopic and there is 0 chance of me conceiving naturally.

You will know whether you can get a referral in all likelihood but looking at the criteria within your local authority for funding IVF

Hey thanks for the reply. I don’t meet the criteria for IVF in my area as I already have a child. I was thinking more along the lines of checking the remaining tube is open and working or if there’s any other tests to be done to see if there could be another cause for the ectopics .

Hey if you want to see if the tube is open then a hycosy or HSG x ray would tell you that and a fertility clinic can do it. In our area (we had nhs fertility treatment) as you have a child they wouldn’t have been able to do the referral to fertility where that test is done so see if you can read your areas policy. There’s no harm asking your gp even if you’re unsure if you’d meet the criteria they might say no but you never know.

I’d just go private for tests op if you can afford it
