Regular poster but have name changed as might be outing. I've been in perimenopause for a couple of years. I was having irregular periods about every two to three weeks. Sometimes and few days break and then another then about 3 mobths ago they stopped completely. I've been feeling sick and I'm worn out all the time. Partner had the snip before we met about 19 years ago. I'm 49 and he's 57. I'm worried sick and we discussed it last night and he's been out to buy a test which I will do as soon as I need my next pee. I'm currently in bed wiped out. He's work from home so is looking after me.

I suppose all I'm asking is if anyone has any experience of this situation and to wish me luck. I'd be very tempted to go ahead with the pregnancy if there is one. The nausea is really bad and I really suffered with all four previous pregnancy albeit many years ago.

You cant really think about what to do next until you have done the test to be honest - once you know you can take it from there!

Thank you. Should've updated. Test was negative. I mean that's good news for us

Been where you are. DH thought I was nuts as I was madly goggling can a vasectomy fail after 10 years. I felt sick and sore boobs. Did the test and negative too! Bloody peri menopause it's a horrible beast! Now my periods are one to 3 months apart and very short. I also had one that was 30days long. Had lots of investigations everyone saying I am too young for peri drives you mad. I am 42 now but was 38 when it all started.

You could ask the gp to check your partner has no swimmers just to give you reassurance going forward. One of my great aunty's had an unexpected surprise at the age of 50!

I’m 48, my period is 111 days late at the moment. I also went through having them every 2-3 weeks then 6-8 weeks and now nearly 4 months! I’m hoping it means I’m in the later stages of perimenopause now. So annoying though because every day I’m wondering if today might be the day, but no…

Please go to your GP for blood tests if you have prolonged tiredness and nausea x

This feels like a storm in a teacup. It’s very very very unlikely to be a pregnancy. Just buy a test. I’m certain it will be negative.

Go to the doc and get a blood test. I suffered from exhaustion such as this and have an underactive thyroid. Plus you will be having hormones going crazy because of where you are at in life.

I'm 49, almost 50, and often feel nauseous and exhausted with peri M due to fluctuating hormones even with the Estrogen gel & progesterone tablets i take as HRT. I take iron tablets now as tried to give blood and was constantly anaemic. I tell people it's like being pregnant but no lovely baby at the end (just a round stomach). Some peri M symptoms are just the worse. Get your doc to do bloods though in case you have under active thyroid etc. I would highly recommend yoga for balance, flexibility and core strength and walking etc or another cardio, weights are also recommended in older women. My lower back is very tight most days but the yoga and HIIT classes help. I also take collagen and menopace tablets. I go to bed early when I can and I don't drink as much alcohol these days. All very boring but it does help my symptoms. You'll find most women past 45 feel the same as you. Talking helps 💗 as it normalises it.
