Painful luteal phase

Hi all, currently ttc baby number 2.

The last 3 cycles I've had twinges and cramps on and off during my luteal phase but this cycle the pain has been consistent since 3dpo (currently 9dpo). I have period type cramps mostly one sided which are really quite painful and seem to be there constantly. I also have really sore hips and lower legs. Does anyone know what this could be?

I have PCOS which has improved since losing some weight and my last 4 cycles have been regular, I also had a recent ultrasound and no cysts could be seen. Does anyone suffer with cramps during luteal phase?

I have awful cramps after my period has just finished and also get sore hips throughout my cycle. Found out I have endometriosis via MRI June last year. Been TTC over 2 years.

@SophieBearsMama Did you have any other endometriosis symptoms? Thank you for sharing. I've been wondering about endometriosis but my period isn't heavy or particularly painful. Do you know if it would show up on a transvaginal ultrasound?

@Northernsoul90 the amount of times I was fobbed off because I don't have heavy periods and my cycle is regular too, but I knew something was going on with me. My periods are actually on the lighter side, but still very painful. I have painful ovulation cramps as well and lower back pain.

Maybe take notes of what happens throughout your cycle for a few months and see if there's any sort of pattern. Then speak to your doctor and maybe get a referral.

Mine didn't show on ultrasound, but possibly because they weren't specialists in the area. It also doesn't always show on MRI unless it's deep pelvic.

Hopefully it isn't, but just keep an eye on things and keep notes x

Thank you so much for the info! I will do, I'll keep a track of the pains and things going forward.

It's strange as this has only developed in the last few months... when I was ttc my first daughter and then when I was on the pill after that I wasn't having any sort of pain. This type of pain began around Feb/March. I will monitor and see how I get on x

@Northernsoul90 tbh, I didn't really start noticing any symptoms until we started TTC 2 years ago (I'm 36 BTW). I'd been on birth control since 16, so maybe that was masking a lot of it or I wasn't paying enough attention to my cycle. Good luck on your journey 🍀
