ALICE/EMMA test - to take or not to take pre embryo transfer?

I was ready for an embryo transfer but then got told about this test to check for infections and chronic endometriosis. The problem is it’s expensive and I was ready to do my transfer this month so I’d be disappointed not to, but now I’m thinking do I cover all bases and do the test first. Is it worth it? I don’t want to have regrets if they find something and I haven’t had the test and waste the embryo but equally if I do the test it pushes back everything a couple of months and I’m ready now. It’s my second embryo but it’s not a high grade one (6BC) and it’s hatched so was going to put it in and see what happens and if it doesn’t work go to another round. The first worked but I miscarried a year or so ago and so that could have caused changes in my endometrium.
it’s such a tough one. Any advice from other ladies who have gone through the IVF process? Thank you

Wouldn’t your clinic pick up on anything as they will be scanning you pre ET?

I did have these tests done and they did find a chronic infection which was cleared and I then went on to have a successful pregnancy.

however, it is expensive and I only did this as a last resort (9th cycle of IVF) as I had had many surgeries (down there) and it was highly likely there could be an infection/bacterial imbalance that was causing issues. I would be asking why the clinic were recommending it after only one previous transfer.

So sorry for your loss xx

Hi,
Sorry to hear your struggles, we are in similar situation.
What did you do to clear up the chronic infection, I had a short dose of antibiotics for mine and I don't know if that will of really helped?

Had 4 more failed transfers since these antibiotics, so thinking infection still there?

Any advice welcome.

I had a course of strong antibiotics, and vaginal probiotics and then they did another test which showed the good bacteria in the area far outweighed the bad. Did they not do another biopsy to confirm this for you?

I then fell pregnant on that transfer, and my babies are three now. I continued with the probiotics throughout pregnancy.

so sorry to hear about your unsuccessful transfers- I know how heartbreaking this is x
