Adenomyosis and Endometriosis

I have been TTC since August with nothing. Tried previously with ex and 2 chemicals. My dr referred me for an ultrasound as he suspected PCOS because I have really painful periods (the pain makes me sick). I have just seen my ultrasound results and it says signed of adenomyosis and endometriosis, my left ovary has no mobility because of suspected endometriosis.

Has anyone else been in this position? I am just wondering what the next steps will be and if it’s very unlikely we will get pregnant without IVF or if IVF would even work in my case. I’m 34 so starting to feel the time pressure too so it would be good to hear if anyone else has been in my position?

I was diagnosed with endometriosis and fell pregnant 9 months later x

I have adenomyosis identified after fertility treatments and I am currently awaiting IVF, but that is due to poor ovarian reserve and not due to the adenomyosis which they said would not be a barrier to my fertility but I don’t know if that is because the area of adenomyosis isn’t particularly large. My understanding is that adenomyosis doesn’t affect fertility as it is in the muscle of the womb whereas endometriosis can make it a bit more difficult to implant into the lining but I wouldn’t quote me on that as it’s a while since I read about it so may have remembered incorrectly!

Are you awaiting follow up to discuss the meaning of that? Trying since august isn’t too long, normally they wouldn’t consider it an issue until it’s been a year or 18 months as that long can be very normal. Honestly, my infertility aside, getting pregnant is nothing short of a miracle!

I hope you get some answers soon

Apologies, I forgot the ovary immobility - are they suspecting you are only ovulating from one side?

Thank you for the posts it’s reassuring to hear it’s not the end of the road.

I am not sure what the lack of mobility means hopefully they’ll send me for more tests? I’ve just seen the results on the app so I don’t have any appointments or anything yet.

We have only been trying since August but I tried with my previous partner for a year and had 2 chemicals. I was wondering if the two could be linked or just bad luck.

It is tricky but I guess you need to also consider your partner being different! Because there could have also been a contributing issue with your previous partners sperm quality too which may have impacted.

In my case my husbands tested all within normal limits so just me that has the issue. I have had a chemical in the past but other than that have been off contraception for 7 years and nothing has happened, while not actively trying for those 7 years. But turns out my reserve is low. I do also have incredibly light periods so I suspect my uterine lining is also thin which may have been an issue too as it may have prevented implantation, rather than egg quality being very poor. I think what I have is probably the biggest barrier to getting pregnant even with IVF, as if your reserve is good on the other ovary then it might respond really well to IVF! But mine are both duds lol. I hope you get some answers and a better plan when you have your apointment
