TTC for 9 months after loss

I became pregnant last year so in 3 months when I was 40 but sadly lost it.
We have now been trying for 9 months and no luck.

Have had fertility assessments and scan and no indicators. Is it just bad luck or low quality eggs. It’s so sad.

Hi,

I’m so sorry you’re going through this. I would recommend reading a book called “it starts with the egg” which is all about vitamins and lifestyle changes to improve egg and sperm quality, the writer is a scientist and references all the scientific studies behind the advice.

I will say though if you try to follow all the advice in that book you’d drive yourself mad, but we have just taken the most realistically do-able parts to integrate them into our lifestyle.

Unfortunately there’s no way to know. I started TTC at 39 and all fertility tests came back ok for my age. But 5 years later I’ve only ever managed to conceive once naturally aged 41 and once via IVF but they both ended in miscarriage. My clinic says it’s likely poor egg quality. So it’s just luck whether you manage to catch a good one or not. I’ve given up now at my age but I think I was unlucky. More women than not conceive in their 40s these days.
