Hi, just looking for some advice.
I’m 39 and we decided to try for a baby this year (my 4th) I had my copper coil out in January. I didn’t think that would have any impact on my periods as it doesn’t have any hormones in. However in February my period was 9 days late. I’ve always been regular. This month I’m due on next Saturday but have woken up today bleeding. I had NO signs my period was coming, I always know from achey boobs, sore back and a headache (since I was 14 this is how every month has been)
The only thing I’ve done differently is starting coq10 and folic acid daily.
I’m now worried it’s peri menopause due to my age.
Has anyone had anything similar?

I had the copper coil for years, and had it removed about 2 years. My periods changed afterwards. They didn't last as long and seemed heavier. Although this type of coil doesn't contain hormones, it still changes the environment of the of the uterus making it incompatible with pregnancy ( toxic to sperm) so it will take your body some to adjust. It must be a 'shock' to the body to suddenly be able function in a way that its not been able for some time.

It's always worth seeing your GP if you're worried about peri-menopause, you can have your progesterone checked. I did, and all was fine.
