Anyone struggled ttc#3?

I’m 35 now and we’ve been ttc for, well this will be our 7th cycle. I’m 11dpo, bfn, so out this month again.

seen a specialist, hubs is in normal range for all (morphology on the lower side 4%) and apparently I have the fertility of a 23 yr old. Obviously for me though they can’t test egg quality but I am taking supplements. The guy even said sperm tests are a bit academic anyway but all looks ok

the specialist said that because we’ve conceived 2 children without intervention and under 6 months, then the odds of secondary infertility are lower than say ttc #2.

but I don’t know it is taking a while and the older I get the less the chance surely?

has anyone else struggled ttc #3 and has any words of wisdom for me?

I am struggling to conceive #2 and also 35 so no advice sorry. Just wondering how could they tell you had the fertility of a 23 year old?

The only testing we could get on the NHS was a progesterone and thyroid blood test🙁

I went private, he did full hormone panel, thyroid, amh, estradiol and a few others. He said sometimes amh is used to count of eggs and quality but a high amh doesn’t increase your chance of conceiving each month but does show your stock. But I’ve since read contradicting things on amh on quality since.

my amh was 37, and I don’t have pcos. So from that he said it’s comparable to the fertility of a 23 year old. I had a test 6 years ago prior to my first and it was 49 (again no pcos) so also apparently I have a slow decline pattern too?

Ah okay! That’s v interesting. I hope you don’t mind me asking but was it very expensive to go private for that?

My insurance covered it, I didn’t want to go to an ivf clinic as I fretted a bit with my first and we had similar results as to now, except dh morphology was 2/3% and they did the hard sell on you’ll never get pregnant without icsi.

so I went to a gynae and asked him to do everything including scans and my husband went to a urologist.

the amh test though wasn’t covered and that was £70 (might be different if you were going self funded?)

how long have you been ttc for? Everyone around me is conceiving and or pregnant and or giving birth it’s quite disheartening. My youngest has kept on saying ‘there’s a baby in your tummy’ too which is a knife to the heart

Thank you! 13 months for us ttc #2 and honestly it gets more disheartening every month! Fingers crossed for both of us x

It really does! I had a surgery to remove ectropian and to do a hsg to check the structure of my uterus and bled for a month after, whilst it was annoying the month down the drain ttc wise it was a lighter month, the tww is becoming agony like now, my luteal phase is normally 12 days and I get spotting before, this month… nothing, temp still high in the evening (normally it would drop the night before to 36.7) but still high at 37.3 but bfn

I’m 18 months in TTC #3. No words of wisdom I’m afraid but in the same boat! DS1 was a surprise and DS2 was conceived first time….so this has really thrown me off and i’m struggling! I’ve been referred to fertility specialist on NHS just for hycosy etc, but so far my bloods are all fine. DH waiting on sperm analysis at the moment. Watching people around me fall and have their babies in the time we’ve been trying is soul destroying 😢😢

How old are you both? What’s the age gap between 2 and now?

dh and I are 35 and there’s 4 yesrs since we conceived our youngest.

are you going in for a hsg or a hysteroscopy? I’ve not had a hsg, maybe I should book one of those?
i was tempted to get dh in for another sperm analysis as his morphology was always on the lower side, but then im like what will I actually do with that information? It was enough for conceive 2 children naturally so logic should dictate that it would continue and there’s pretty much nothing you can do to improve sperm, supplements (which dh is already taking) so seeing if his numbers are low might just make me resent him.

No words of wisdom but this was similar to us, conceived first and second babies first time then took a little longer for number 3. I think it was cycle 7 we conceived. It is very positive that the fertility testing has come back good for you, hopefully you do conceive soon. I know it is frustrating when previous pregnancies have happened very easily, wishing you all the best!

I’ve not had a hsg test though and dh sperm analysis was a while ago, done randomly prior to ttc because our insurance covered it and we had no more excess to pay.

We’re at month 7 and I’m losing hope. I’m 13dpo with a bfn, and bbt still high

I’m 33 and DH is 30. My first son was born in 2022 but sadly passed away at 3 days old. I then fell pregnant a few months later and have DS2 who has just turned 2.

I don’t actually know what they’re doing to be honest, i’m still waiting for the initial appointment. But I had an ectopic in September last year and lost my left tube, so i’ve asked for a hycosy to check my remaining tube. I think if sperm morphology is low they normally say life style changes can help - but I agree, if you’ve had previous babies and even with it being low, it doesn’t mean it can’t happen. But could be why it’s taking a little longer? I go through phases of being ‘it is what it is’ and being absolutely frantic with it and desperate for another baby. It’s such a rollercoaster isn’t it.

I’m really sorry for the loss of your child, that must be unthinkably tough! X

@Anudawan Thank you, it’s really tough. He would have been 3 this month. It doesn’t ever get easier x
