Advice going forward

I’ve had 3 pregnancies. A MMC in 2020, a pre-term birth at 29 weeks in 2021 and currently going through another loss having ttc for nearly a year. I feel like something must be wrong with me. They never found any reason for my prem birth, just went into spontaneous labour. I know I need to get past this last pregnancy first (HCG isn’t dropping fast enough and it’s a PUL - hopefully not ectopic) but I’m not sure what to do going forward. Do I go back to the gp and ask for tests? What tests? I just don’t know where to start really.

Thanks in advance

You could test for BV and ureaplasma. You can also test the loss for chromosomal disorders as that's the most common reason.

I'm sorry for your losses. At the moment just concentrate on what's happening now and get through that. You can definitely talk to your gp and ask for some testing to be done. I hope you are surrounded by lots of supportive people and don't forget to take it easier and be nice to yourself, this ttc process is hard especially with the loss.

Sorry for your losses. I’ve had 3 miscarriages and I spoke with my GP after the last one a week ago. I asked them to refer me to recurrent miscarriage which they have done and my appointment has come through for June. No idea what to expect but feels like we’re doing something at least

Ok thank you. I’m not sure if they’ll find anything to test but we’ll see. Thanks

Thank you. I’ve actually not really told anyone. Only my closest friend as she was the only one who knew we were ttc again and is struggling ttc a second too. I am ok at the moment. It’s hard but I’ve got a beautiful little girl to keep me on my toes.

Hope that appointment comes around quickly. Hopefully you’ll get tests done and some answers. When I said today that I’d had 2 MCs the nurse said try again when you feel ready, if it’s a healthy pregnancy next time great and if not at least it’s 3 and I can get a referral.

I honestly think it’s horrendous that they say you have to have 3 miscarriages before they will help you. My miscarriage last year was horrendous. I wasn’t informed to keep testing to ensure it went negative and ended up with a bfp the following month. EPU wouldn’t acknowledge it as a new pregnancy even though I knew it was. But promised me they would help me if I got pregnant again. I called them when I found out last time and they said I didn’t fit their NICE guidelines and basically told me to see what happens. And obviously I lost it again. the nurse I spoke to at EPU even agreed it was a new pregnancy and when she called me back to say they wouldn’t help me she even sounded like she was going to cry having to tell me that.

I think GP is your best bet. Mine listened to me (bawling my eyes out) and did exactly what I asked of her. She even offered additional support such as counselling etc which made me felt listened to for once.
