I feel by this stage there would be even a faint line indicating there was some sort of implantation but its its said that an embryo can implant from day 6 to day 12 so if you are pregnant and you implanted on the later end then it's very likely you could get a very faint positive 14dpo

Yea i know :/ ill test again tomorrow morning hopefully there will be a faint line!

From a research paper:
”Among the pregnancies that lasted six weeks or more, the first appearance of chorionic gonadotropin occurred 6 to 12 days after ovulation; 118 women (84 percent) had implantation on day 8, 9, or 10.” So it’s absolutely possible to not implant until 12DPO, and in which case not get a positive test until later (although less common than earlier implantation, and later implantation had higher chance of loss). Time of implantation of the conceptus and loss of pregnancy - PubMed

In most successful human pregnancies, the conceptus implants 8 to 10 days after ovulation. The risk of early pregnancy loss increases with later implantation.

Just wait to miss a period by a few days and test then. That'll give you a definitive answer

heroinechic · 09/03/2025 10:24

Depends on the test I was using! Whenever I've been pregnant it has shown up on a FRER by 9DPO but hasn't been clear on others until much later. You need to look at the sensitivity of the test x

jelliebean9 · 09/03/2025 12:51

I agree with two really valid points here. The sensitivity of the test, if it's around when you expect your period then it's perfectly possible for HCG to be only around 10mlu, the range is huge, have a google of HCG by week. So if you're testing with a normal test, then they're typically around 25mlu. In which case you may not be picking it up. Second point, did you track ovulation to know it was definitely that date? As even a couple days out can effect when implantation is, thus giving it less chance to be picked up.
If your period doesn't show in a couple more days. Then I'd get a first response as they're the lowest HCG sensitivity of around 6mlU
With my son, I tested on CD26 when my usual cycles end and I got 2 negatives with boots own brand ones which are 10mlu. I waited another week and tested again with first response and got 2 positives. I think I ovulated later than expected!
Hope that's helpful!

@muddysocks Possible, yes, but unfortunately many studies also find that these later implantations often don't make it, and end up as miscarriages. Obviously not all, but apparently a high proportion.

For me, I always showed positive on the ultra sensitive tests by 10dpo (3 pregnancies)

Yup that’s what that study I linked said - you can implant later but higher chance of loss. Still enough chance for it to happen and be ok though!

JNicko90 · 09/03/2025 19:38

I didn't test positive until 13DPO on one of my pregnancies

Muddysocks1 · 09/03/2025 21:05

OP I was scrolling through Fertility Friend’s gallery this evening at charts where there was a negative test before a positive, and LOADS weren’t until after 12DPO, which was reassuring

I tested every day from 9dpo and kept getting hard no. Then on 15 dpo I tried one last test because I was getting upset and it was the most positive test you’ve ever seen.
