Low AMH - any success stories?

Hi all! Currently TTC baby no 2, and I've had some private fertility investigations done as I don't believe I've ovulated in the last year. The tests have shown lower than expected AMH for my age (5.1 pmol/l, age 34), plus low estrogen too.

For record, when I was trying to conceive in 2022 my AMH was fine at 22, but there have since been some issues which mean it has dropped.

The consultant has recommended IVF as my best chance of success, but just wondering if anyone with low AMH has managed to conceive naturally or with letrozole/ovulation induction?

Any advice/stories would be lovely. Just trying to explore other options before going straight to IVF as it would be really hard for us to afford! x

Check out alexexplaininginfertilty on Instagram, she lectured a lot of AMH .

Me. I had some tests just before TTC baby number 3, for no real reason other than I was 40.

Tests came back 0.5 AMH and was told IVF would be the only likely route. The next month (and 3rd month of trying) I was pregnant.

Hi @Janey3090,

No success story I’m afraid but I’m in a very similar position to you. TTC no 1, 32 and have an AMH of 5.7pmol. My clinic have also recommended we go straight for IVF, likely June, which we will do as I don’t want to waste time.

but I am also unsure if I am ovulating properly and considering trying letrozole privately up until IVF month.

will follow along this thread for any low AMH success stories. ❤️

I had tests done after a miscarriage while TTC baby no 2 at the age of 42, which showed my AMH level was 2.5 pmol.

I was advised to take high dose folic acid (due to something else flagged by the tests), and DHEA, Coq10 and vitamin D to try to improve egg quality. I took all of those, plus Cytoplan's Pregna-plan and omega 3.

Alongside this, I tried to improve my diet (my alcohol intake was already very low) and started running again, and my husband also tried to improve his diet and fitness. We also started using a fertilily cup.

After a chemical pregnancy 4 months later, I started undergoing acupuncture every week or so and I fell pregnant on the 2nd cycle after that. I took aspirin and progesterone during my pregnancy and my precious rainbow baby is now asleep in my arms. Wishing you the best of luck! ❤️

5 years trying for DD, ended up having 3 rounds/5 transfers via IVF to have her.

Amh 1.9 at age (31/32 i think) and poor sperm profile for my DH.

Fast forward to age 37, I've fallen pregnant twice last year (1 early MC but now 38 weeks) both times were on our first try.

Human bodies are odd and don't always follow the rules.

My AMH was about 2.8 at a similar age to you, I was so devastated! Two months later I found out I was pregnant, and had another child two years after the first (didn't retest AMH at that point). I researched a lot at the time and AMH is only one number in the much bigger picture, not a good predictor of pregnancy chances on its own ❤️
