Improved cycles after pregnancy?

Has anyone experienced this?

Pre pregnancy my cycles were really irregular, anywhere from 38 - 50 days long. After ovulation I would get awful symptoms like incredibly sore boobs, bad skin, spotting from 5 dpo, mood swings. It took ages to conceive DS as i didn’t ovulate for ages between each period.

Since having my DS 10 months ago my cycles are bang on 28 days and I have barely any premenstrual symptoms. I only see information that suggests periods can be more erratic since pregnancy and wondered if anyone else has had their cycles ‘fixed’ since pregnancy? Did you find it easier to conceive the second time if so?

Yes I know lots of people who struggled to get pregnant with their first and then their second was a surprise/first couple months of TTC as their body kind of reset/got the memo after the first pregnancy. Good luck!

Yep, DD is 7 and my periods are now regular as clockwork and practically painless. It's night and day. No easier to conceive though – we're not exactly TRYING (leaving it to fate!) but DP and I have been having regular unprotected sex for over two years now and no pregnancy.

I have PCOS. Had Clomid with DS as I had ridiculous cycles - up to 180 days. After DS was born, my cycles were between 30-60 days and I fell pregnant naturally. then I got to fairly regular cycles of around 30 days. I remember whinging to a friend that years of trying to get pregnant and now I suspected if I just had sex with DH on day 15, bang, I'd be pregnant! Grin

Similar story here...but my cycles have only become like clockwork since starting perimenopause. Is it the same for you or are you under 40?

Yes, but only after my second child. I also lost a load of weight through keto around the same time and so that may have helped, but I have stayed regular ever since regardless of what my weight was doing and how I was eating.

To be fair, "like clockwork" for me was still a cycle length of between 28-35 days so I was perhaps being a bit facetious with my friends, but I had quite a few obvious symptoms of ovlation and also PMS and I really do think that after DD if I'd wanted a third, sex a few times around day 14-18 would probably have done the trick! Grin

But yes, as I went into peri - I'd say from around 44 - a shorter "clockwork" cycle of 29-31 became standard for a long time (now we're back to erratic - but often shorter - but then I'm 50 now).

Yes and no. In my 3 years of TTC #3 my cycles were much more regular than before, evidence of LH surges etc, but it still took me 3 years and about 39 cycles! I just finally got my BFP last Thursday...
