Thinking of trying to conceive. Help?

I have been on the pill for eighteen months and am thinking of trying to conceive. Not sure where to start. Obvs have to come off the pill. But not sure whether to just take it easy for a few months or to dive straight in with ovulation tests. I'm really worried I won't be able to get pregnant. I don't know why. It seems to be an irrational fear. I always had regular periods before I started taking contraception. Any advice would be really appreciated. X

Welcome to the madness!

Honestly I would say take it easy at first, avoid the stress for as long as you can! Do start taking a preconception vitamin though as it’s good to up your folic acid as soon as you can. You could start off just logging your symptoms at different times of the month too, before you start testing or temping 🙂 Good Luck! 💖

If at all possible I would say take it easy and try your best to enjoy it. If it does end up taking a while the enjoyment really goes out of it, for me anyway it did. So I would say enjoy the excitement and anticipation of it and hopefully won't be long at all. Get on folic acid. Need to be on it ideally 3 months before conception. And really look out for signs of ovulation and get to know your body's signals without jumping straight to OPKs, temps etc. It's normal to take a year but maybe after 6 months or so start OPKs, whatever timeframe feels right to you. Testing can be extremely addictive and obsessive so I personally wouldn't jump right into that.
