Just thought I'd add, more evidence from my temps that there'll be no BFP this month. Last cycle (I only temped from about CD20) I got a little plateau for three days at c.36.7 before my temp zig zagged a bit and then dropped before AF. I'm following the same pattern this cycle.

Lottie - Well, let's just wait and see. It's not over yet. Maybe you'll get a nice surprise

Minxi I'm so sorry I know the frustration. And like Yarnie said, maybe it is best to forget about it all for a while. Take care of yourself and if you need to talk we'll all be right here.

Lottie Taking your temp BEFORE you go to bed!?!? What's the point in that I wouldn't count you out yet either! Keep us updated!

I'm being so good - wanted a latte this morning so badly and I resisted! THen I got into work and went to get my cottage cheese out of the fridge and found that someone was storing their chocolate on top of it! Cruel!!!

Ready · 12/06/2008 10:26

Minxi, take care of yourself won't you... and come and find me when you get your bfp!!!

Minxi Don't know whether you'll still reading, but I encountered this interesting fact while reading about something else...apparently, The Royal College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists advise against monitoring CM and temps as research has not demonstrated that it results in improved pregnancy rates and it is frequently psychologically draining. Your new approach may be exactly what is recommended by experts.

I'm beginning to wonder whether, once I've charted for a few months and got to know my cycle, whether I should just leave the charting behind.

Oh no you two!

Minxi I hope you get the peace from TTC and come back with good news.

Lottie it's a step in the right direction to see the fertility people, I hope they have good news for you and that it's quick.

lastboxoftampons · 12/06/2008 16:29

Oh, Lottie I'm so sorry. I dont' know what to say, except I know exactly how you feel.

Yarnie I imagine the Royal College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists also recommend that we don't go googling to find what experts recommend LOL!

Aw, cry if you need to, Lottie. I do! And also wee if you need to please Hugs for you, you're being brilliant about this!

minxi · 12/06/2008 21:44

Girls....thank you for your thoughts - I am actually fine. The thing with day 1 is you pick yourself back up after a few hours as life does go on...
Anyway I am going to take a break from charting and temping etc for a few months and just chill - my other 2 were conceived naturally after 9 and 11 months of ttc and I never even thought to temp etc - it was only when I found this site when months had passsed for ttc#3 that I thought umm how interesting!
Have decided to wait to do any thing dramatic until the beginning of next year - I'm not ready for it right now and I will be nearly 37 then...
So I will be checking on you all - and thank you all for being such wonderful mumsnet buds! especially us old timers, Ready and Lottie and Rah... - we will get there eventually I'm sure - its just taking time. Don't forget me! x

Lottie Sorry you've been disappointed this month I say cry and wee as much as you like. Get it out of your system on CD1 and then PMA for the next cycle.

LBOT In my defence, I discovered the advice while looking for something else entirely My good friend has just qualified as doctor and plans on being an obstetrician, so I was looking her up. Maybe she'll attend to me if I ever get anywhere with all this ttc business!

Minxi glad to hear you've managed to pick yourself up and brush the dust off. I feel sure your new approach will reap rewards - it obviously worked for you before

minxi I agree that CD1 is bittersweet - or maybe sweetly bitter? - in that while you know it didn't happen that month, it's already a new month and another chance is around the corner. Good luck to you.

Hello ladies - well the big news from me is that I've ovulated! I know, my life is just soo exciting

Seriously though, I can see why you're off to restore sanity Minxi (if you're still lurking!). I"m actually considering stopping temping until AF has arrived (you can see how optimistic I am this month) as I only really want to do it to find out when I'm ovulating and then forget about it the rest of the time, as that is where insanity lies for me, I fear. I'm glad I've done it this month though - I always suspected I was an early ovulater (is this a word??) and my FF chart has confirmed.

Lottie you sound like you have a lovely DP . Going off for a mini break sounds like a win-win situation in that the rain won't be able to spoil the purpose of it I'm very

ready glad you are back and had a lovely hols. missed you.

minxi my heart and thoughts are with you. I shall miss you, so please lurk around and post some of your wisdom, even if you are not temping. Taking a break and enjoying this summer sounds like a good plan to me. You are a star.

We are trying a bit harder this month (2 months of not temping equalled 2 months of not trying for us, as we are too darn lazy) and DH promises to send his troops on more missions in order to breech my Normandy Beach defenses (for newer members of this thread, you will get used to our military analogies - DH loves history). BUT we are off to see consultant at end of month and will be moving to IUI.

lottie Sorry this was not your month I was hoping it would be. We have found the NHS has been quite good, but when they are not 100% sure of the problem it takes time to try things and getting your "pipes" checked and sperm tests done on the NHS could save you a lot of money. My bro was having IVF on NHS and they went from test results in Oct to IVF in Jan which I thought was amazingly quick. Round here the NHS consultant is also the local private consultant so he is happy for people to switch out when they want. Cost wise though IUI is around £1000 a try and IVF £4000 a pop, but you need to add on all your appointments and test fees if you are budgeting on going private.

My appointments are with our local "infertility clinic". Did you all know that secondary infertility is more common than primary (i.e. people who have conceived before, not necessarily carried full term)

BUT the appointments here are all done in the womans name and hospital number. If that is any help. I would get an appointment in the system, as they usually take a while. The other thing worth knowing, is that although they have to see you within 6 or 8 weeks of the letter from your GP, the follow up appointment is often 3 months later, as there are no stats/agreements/patients charter regarding follow up.

It is a slow steady process, however I know several first hand cases of people who have fallen naturally while in the system. Don't give up hope, but it is worth checking out the basics.

Once we knew there were medical problems we found it a lot less stressful on the whole, as we no longer expect to get pregnant therefore there is less of a let down.

Morning all.

Lottie How irritating re: your appointment. Will you not get seen as quickly now? I reckon you'll hit the jackpot on holiday. Sounds textbook to me - fertility appointment booked, plan to get back to it after the holiday - BAM!

Slightly higher temp from me this morning compared with last cycle (I temped from around CD20), but I think it's nothing special, as I started off using a thermometer which only read to 1 decimal place. I expect I'll have a little zig zag like last time and then my temp will drop.

Lottie sorry to see you back at the top. I have just noticed your "round 2". How long have you been trying for?

I have just been to visit a friend with a 4 month old, and it has left me a bit down. I don't doubt that they adore their little one, but they seem so casual about her. It's hard to explain what I mean, but there wasn't the "show and tell" I am used to with a young baby.
