9 dpo faint positive on Clear Blue, BFN following morning

Hi everyone,

Hope you don't mind me joining.

Backstory: I have been having mild cramping, and bouts of nausea since about 5 dpo. I don't get PMS cramps or symptoms really so this is unusual for me.

I did a Clear Blue test 9 dpo and there was a faint positive within the 10 minute limit, however I tested again 10 dpo, expecting a slightly darker line and nothing there! Very confused.

I don't know whether it was a fluke with my HCG levels or I've had a chemical. Anyone else experienced similar?

Your first test was possibly an evap, do you have a picture?

Mrsttcno1 · 05/02/2025 14:24

Agree with PP especially with ClearBlue tests the first could be an evap, they are horrific for them and they can show even within the time.

I would wait a few days and then test again x

Thanks @Mrsttcno1 and @twodoorsup for messaging back! Here's a link to a photo of the test taken well within the 10 minute window

I can definitely see something but it's almost impossible to know without a second positive if it was an evap or not, I'd agree to wait & test again, possibly with a different brand too

OneWaryCat · 05/02/2025 19:48

Can someone explain what an evap is and how it works please? I'm testing next week with clear blue and don't want to get it wrong!

Floradora123 · 05/02/2025 20:27

Thanks @twodoorsup I'll do another test in a few days time. This waiting is so hard though!

@OneWaryCat an evap line is when a faint thin line appears usually after the recommended result window (10 mins with ClearBlue). A positive test is usually the same width as the control line even if faint.

Good luck with your test!

Thank you. Good luck x

So I tested on 9dpo around 2pm and within 3 minutes I got a faint blue line on a clearblue test, do I take it as a positive or evaporation line?
