I have 3 children, all of them were not planned but very much wanted and loved.

I am going to be 40 this year and we have decided to try for a baby! I'm trying not to think about it too much but I'm worried my age will make it hard/impossible. I had my youngest almost 6 years ago and then had a copper coil fitted.

I had my coil removed yesterday so February will be our first official month of trying! I'm currently ovulating (according to my app)

your supposed to wait a month after getting the coil out to start trying. Better chances for conception, you can also buy ovulation test strips to find the best days to try

Can I ask why you're supposed to wait a month? The nurse said it was fine to try immediately, she even said there's a risk of pregnancy if I've had sex in the last 4 days as the soerm may still be alive

i was told by my nurse there was a higher chance of miscarriage

Oh that's interesting, I had the copper coil, not sure if that makes a difference?

I had the copper coil as well and got it out to start TTC. Was advised to have one period before starting just to make sure my periods came back and also to help with dating a pregnancy by going by your LMP. I got my period exactly four weeks later and then started tracking ovulation. Best of luck!

I don't think I need to worry about periods coming back as they've always been very regular even on the coil! Every 28 days and ovulation regular too

Sounds like you're ready to go so, very exciting!

I'm 38 and had my coil out in December. I got pregnant the first month trying. To be honest, I didn't realised that I was supposed to wait a month. I thought the copper coil didn't impact fertility. I'm almost 7 weeks now. Good luck trying!!

Hi,

Wishing you all the best!

I conceived naturally twice; once at 41 and once at 43. Both pregnancy's were straightforward and my now 3 and 1 year old girls are currently fast asleep next to me 😊
