Azoospermia - what happens next

Hi all,
I am wondering if anyone can give me any advice as currently feel a bit in limbo.
After trying for 12months my husband just got his SA back and it showed a zero sperm count. A big shock for us.
Our NHS GP then wanted to do a day 21 test for me to check I am ovulating and that result has come back normal.
The GP has said she is referring us to the fertility clinic.
Can anyone give any guidance over what happens next and if there are any other tests we can ask the GP to do to speed things up a bit.
My other question is about waiting list times and any recommendations for private treatment that is a lot quicker. I've already rang one clinic who said private clients go onto the same waiting list as NHS so it's not worth it which I was surprised at.

We are in the North East of England.

Would really appreciate any help

Thank you!

Hello

I'm sorry that you've had that news.

My DH has azoospermia. His GP told him he'd never father children.

The next step for us was establishing whether or not my husband produced sperm.

There's obstructive azoospermia, where sperm is produced but blocked.

There's non-obstructive azoospermia, where sperm isn't produced.

My DH has obstructive azoospermia, which meant we could (and have) had children. We had a round of IVF using ICSI which didn't work for us, and then we saw a brilliant consultant privately, who performed some surgery, and we've conceived children naturally.

Getting this news is hard. I'll keep everything crossed for you.
