Trying for 1 year + any success stories?

Hello me and my partner have been trying for 13 cycles 🎉

Does anyone have any success stories about trying for 1 year plus.

We’ve had all the gp blood tests. Now I’m being referred to a fertility specialist.

Hoping to get tubes/egg quality investigated.

Were using fertility lube, all the supplements etc. Does anyone have any success stories after trying for awhile?

thank you!

Hi OP, sorry to hear it's taking a while to conceive. I was in the same boat as you, 18 months TTC, initial bloods all normal and about to take the step into fertility treatment territory. I became pregnant while awaiting fertility appointment. This unfortunately ended in a miscarriage and partial molar for me. Wasn't allowed conceive for a few months after but when got the all clear conceived a healthy baby again and only took 3 months, all perfect and have a DS now 😀
(Sorry pressed post too soon so editing!)
So there is hope and you'll come across previous threads with lots of success stories. Only thing I did differently when I conceived on both occasions was start taking conceive plus ovulation support. I know you can never say if something like that helped for sure but I'd definitely try it again whenever I decide to TTC again

Thank you @remaininghopeful23 thats good to know. I’m currently on wild nutrition fertility support but I’ll maybe switch when I run out.

So glad you got your baby in the end ❤️

This is not a success story as such as was traumatising, but on my 14th month of trying I conceived. Unfortunately the pregnancy was ectopic.

The only positive from this is that my poor baby has showed me that I can conceive - I had been extremely worried I could not get pregnant at all.

I still don't have a baby (although my ectopic was only last month - we are still trying) but despite everything I had read about if it's over a year it's likely never going to happen, that simply wasn't true.

That is so false that if it's over a year "it'll likely never happen". The standard line is that it is completely normal - and not necessarily indicative of any underlying problems - to take up to a year to TTC, which is why they recommend under 35s wait for the 12 month mark to seek help through the NHS. But that doesn't mean it will never happen naturally if it hasn't happened by then.

When TTC DD1 (at 31-32) it took 16 months- but that was actually 10 cycles and probably partly down to my having undiagnosed hypothyroidism for the first 10 months.

DD2 (at 35) took 12 months/cycles, despite my being on Levothyroxine.

There were potentially male factor issues there too as DH had two pretty atrocious sperm analyses whilst TTC DD1 although sample one was left in the lab for over 2 hours before they got round to looking at it 🙄), but the fact that both conceptions happened naturally illustrates that these things can turn around - and pretty quickly.

I'm now on cycle 38 TTC #3 but I'm now ancient which probably doesn't help.

Good luck!

Thank you @curliegirlie this is helpful I’ve had my thyroid checked but I’m looking at insulin resistance to see if that’s a thing I need to be looking at.
