Faint test but digital clear blue says not pregnant

I took a test yesterday afternoon and it came up straight away with a faint line, my partner came home with a clear blue digital but it said not pregnant.

Would you say this was a positive test, even faint?

I can see a faint line

Now go and make yourself busy - test again in the morning!

Do not test again later today

Chocolateteabag · 15/01/2025 09:36

I mean the above in a kind but bossy way!!

Fingers crossed for you

I am actually quite terrified to be pregnant, I am 45 with 3 DC already, we were not trying. He pulls out around my fertile time.

It does look faint but positive to me, however as with many tests they are prone to evaps. Unless it's the 6 days early CB digi then they require a higher level of HCG to show positive, so that might be why

ABigBarofChocolate · 15/01/2025 10:56

I've been told many times that you can have false negatives but it's unlikely to get a false positive and that definitely looks like a positive. But yeah, best to try again tomorrow. Also, pulling out is not guaranteed as pre ejaculation can also get you pregnant and a lot of guys don't feel that.

Zip79 · 15/01/2025 11:11

Yes I know re pulling out, we just thought it unlikely to fall pregnant due to my age.

Hormonal contraception really does not agree with me

Sorry, I didn't mean to sound condescending. Some people genuinely don't know that about pulling out and if it's worked previously, why believe otherwise? Understandable.

Is it a possibility that your OH could get the snip?

Zip79 · 15/01/2025 11:16

I just took apart the digital test just to see, I know you're not meant to 😬and there are 3 lines, so I probably am PG it's just early, I'm due on tomorrow.

What made me think I was PG in the first place was extreme nausea and boobs.

Yeah looks and sounds like it. Congratulations x

No you didn't come across as condescending at all... my partner doesn't have any children, he's 38, he said if it accidentally happened he would be very happy. I warned him it's unlikely due to my age, I think I am probably biologically younger than my actual age if that makes sense though because people think I am 10 years younger than I actually am.

The clear blue digi's aren't as sensitive.

I'm sure he will be thrilled then 😊

What's your secret? I'd love to look 10 years younger lol

Zip79 · 15/01/2025 11:43

Lol I don't know why, I don't do anything special, I'm sure it will catch up to me eventually

I would definitely take a different test, I’ve had so many false positives with the one you have taken, good luck! Xx

Oh okay, it's a Sainsburys, so I may not be PG, I didn't think you could really get false positives.

I just did a normal Clear blue, too impatient to know, got a very faint line

There are always 3 lines inside the CB digi's - confusing, I know! Also the other CB looks too thin so likely an evap. Hopefully you'll know more tomorrow🤞🏼

Okay thanks, the clear blue line came up straight away and it's blue, it is very thin though. I think my hcg levels are still a bit low.

I saved my first pee and I'm waiting for first response tests to come from Amazon...

Good luck op, how many dpo are you? My digital didn't come up positive in my third pregnancy until about 12/13dpo. They're now a two year old!

Zip79 · 16/01/2025 16:42

The first response was clearly negative so I guess I'm not PG because it would surely pick it up as I'm 1 day late now.

I am slightly relieved really, however I still feel really nauseous so that's confusing 🤔

The test you did yesterday initially was a really nasty evap, but glad you got the outcome you were hoping for

Yeah, that was the 2nd test I posted, the first I did also had a faint line come up immediately. The one I posted also came up immediately! They shouldn't be allowed to sell these tests if they give false positives, especially for women who are struggling to conceive, it must be heartbreaking.
