This is my first month TTC following a vasectomy reversal.

This will be the first time I have ever tracked ovulation so trying to get my head around all the numbers.

Today I am 12DPO and 2 days late for my period. I tested this morning and it's negative.

Does that mean this month is out? I.e do positives happen after this time

Positives can happen after 12 DPO but it isn’t super common/likely. What makes you think you are 12 DPO? If you are only 12 DPO but 2 days late for your period then you would only have a 10 day lutheal phase?

So ovulated on the 22nd December, sorry so a little out 11DPO and due for period on the 1st Jan, does that tie in?

It’s a shortish luteal phase, generally you are due your period around 14 days after ovulation. I may be totally wrong but I think I people who generally have longer or shorter cycles than the “golden 28 day cycle” its usually the start of the cycle that varies more wildly and most people still have a 14 day phase post ovulation, but I could be wrong….

I need to do more reading up thank you.

I'll test again tomorrow.

Do you only have a 21 day cycle? If so you may have ovulated earlier around 15th/16th December, do you use ovulation tests?

madson · 02/01/2025 14:57

My ovulation tests here and my recent cycles

Edited

You’re right, I have PCOS and have really irregular periods, but I always get my period 16 days after a positive ovulation test, so 15 days after I ovulate

ecossegirl91 · 02/01/2025 15:07

So if you ovulated on 22dec cd15/16 I would expect a period on Jan 5th ish.

I never tracked - just dtd daily from the end of my period until the next one. I don’t think there’s usually a need to be too scientific about it from the off, fair enough if it doesn’t happen in a 6 months though

I do agree with this tbf, it can cause stress and if you’re having regular sex anyway then tracking doesn’t really make any difference. Having said that I have really irregular periods, but tracking ovulation helps me to predict when my period will come, before I tracked I had no clue as I could have a 25 day cycle or a 60 day cycle?

madson · 02/01/2025 16:23

Never thought of it that way, we have regular sex anyway so what is to be gained. Thank you.

if you are having regular sex I would take the pressure off since it’s only been 1 month? Every other day would be enough to catch any ovulation….

Just want to add that 10-14 days is normal for luteal phase :) lots of older threads about it on here.
