Thing you did different month of BFP

I have just turned 33, I'm on cycle #5 of TTC #1. I'm 10dpo today and got BFN this morning so will be moving onto cycle #6 in the next few days.

2 months ago I found out I have a 1cm polyp and tiny fibroid which I have been referred to gynae for. 8 weeks in and my referral hasn't been reviewed, they are still working on September. Likely to not get an appointment until August so thinking of going private. Hubby has an appointment for semen analysis coming up.

So far I have been using OPKs, DTD every other day, using pre seed, cut down on caffeine to one coffee a day, changed my diet etc... still not even an inkling of a BFP.

What did you do differently the month you got BFP? I know having a polyp makes it more difficult but I don't want to put everything on hold if I'm going to be waiting another 8 months for an appointment.

I stopped tracking temping and stressing over it and thought what will be will be, that month I fell pregnant it ended in an ectopic.

Had sex the day after ovulation as well as before

I only had sex once that month and then went straight to the toilet to clean up. TMI but… I did nothing.

Some time ago now but we drank 3 martinis and had a giant meal. Dd3 is now 21.... (not suggesting this is a good way to do it)

Other than potentially the polyp (I don't actually know about them only that you said it might be an issue) there's no obvious problem there OP. It's completely normal and expected to take up to 1 year for healthy couples with no underlying problems to conceive. You'll probably laugh at being told to try not to stress, but I think reminding yourself that this is all still in the realms of normal and not thinking too far into the months ahead can help. I started conceive plus ovulation support after 18 months TTC, second month using it I conceived.

#1 took 19 months - I got a BFP the month I'd given up and been referred for IVF - mother nature works in mysterious ways

Didntask · 31/12/2024 09:42

I ate no dairy (simply because of the country I was in weeks before my bfp).

First pregnancy (ttc 12m): moved house - I think my body relaxed once we'd exchanged

Second pregnancy (ttc 18m): a stressful work project was canned a week or so before I ovulated due to the election, and we went on holiday 😆

So I think l in my case at least, part of what was stopping me was stress, but maybe just luck - who knows really.

I had a smear test a few days before ovulating.

I had booked in to see my practice nurse about something else and we talked about trying for months and nothing happening. She asked when my period was due, ovulation dates etc. She suggested I come back for a smear test no more than 5 days before I was due to ovulate next. I did and it worked.

3 years later, I did that same and it worked again.

Almost the same thing happened to me. Got told with my PCOS and endo that the chances of me getting pregnant without help were slim to none. I got a positive test a week before we were supposed to do IUI.

I'd stopped any kind of tracking and completely given up on getting pregnant unassisted. I didn't even take a test until my period was 2 weeks late because I genuinely thought there was no chance.

Is there a rationale behind this? Did she explain?
