my beautiful daughter was born sleeping just over 2 weeks ago. My bleeding stopped a few days ago. I was wondering if anybody has been through similar and shed some light on how long it took for your period to return?

I don't know, but I'm sorry this happened. Sending love and peace ❤️

CC222 · 24/12/2024 16:39

It will possibly return in the next few weeks.
I'm so sorry you experienced such devastating loss, absolutely heartbreaking... God bless your baby girl. Sending love ♥️ x

I'm sorry for your loss. My bleeding stopped after 10 days post still birth, my period then returned 6.5 weeks after that so roughly 2months post birth

After my twins were still born my period returned about 6-7 weeks later but was absolutely horrendous with the bleeding and clots. Same thing happened 4 weeks later. Worst periods I’ve ever had. Turned out I still have some retained products of conception which I didn’t know was a thing but can be more common following a still birth or late miscarriage according to my doctors. So sorry you’re going through this. It’s a horrible club to belong to.

I lost my first twin , he was stillborn at 30 weeks and his brother died aged 4 days old. My period returned 8 weeks later. Remember you have given birth so your body is adjusting again. I'm sorry for your loss. I'm a year down this road and it never gets easier xxx

I am so sorry.. a devastating loss and sorry to others who have experienced stillbirth too🌈.. there are no words.

Sorry this has happened to you. I have been through similar, it took about 7 weeks for mine to come. I was desperate for my period to come back so I could try again in order to get pregnant to ease the terrible grief I was in. I got pregnant quickly, miscarried, then got pregnant again quickly and had my daughter, then 18months later I had my son. I was 41 when I had my son. Hope this helps somewhat x

I’m so sorry for your loss. After the stillbirth of my daughter (ten years ago now) it took about 3 months for my period to return.

Sending you so much love. It’s the most awful loss.

@HLouise94 Hello I hope you don’t mind me messaging ? I lost my baby girl Hallie at 35 weeks a month ago on Saturday ! I had a huge placenta abruption and nearly died myself. I just wondered how you were getting on ?? Have you fallen pregnant again and how is your care with the NHS following a stillbirth? I am so sorry that happened to you xxx

Hi! I’m so sorry that you find yourself and for the loss of your baby girl Hallie. Sending so much love to you at this time! I remember how difficult it was for me at this stage. It sounds like your loss was so traumatic as well!! I lost my baby girl Niamh at the beginning of December last year. I knew from the outset that I wanted to get pregnant as soon as possible. I got my first proper period around February time (I think!) and fell pregnant again in March. I’m now 31 weeks! It has been and continues be an incredibly difficult pregnant. I’m anxious all the time! I’m being cared for by the rainbow clinic at my local hospital and I absolutely cannot fault their care. I have a specialist consultant who has scanned me every 2 weeks and checks the blood flow through the cord and baby’s growth. The bereavement midwives who took care of me when I lost Niamh are looking after me now and it’s lovely having appointments with people who know my story. They’re helping me to cope with the anxiety. I have many trips to triage to get checked! Most of the time it’s just due to my worrying but they’re very good with me!

Are you hoping to get pregnant again soon?xx

@HLouise94 thank you sooo much for replying to me I really appreciate it. It’s honestly been the most horrendous time for me. I had three misscarriages before Hallie too and went to CRP clinic who diagnosed me with high NK cells I then got pregnant under there care two months in and carried Hallie to 35 weeks. It cost us 10k to get Hallie with the clinic. I am absolutely desperate to get pregnant ASAP to fill my heart. I have felt so worried if I would be okay to try straight away after a c section!? Have you found it okay being pregnant again so soon? I am soooo pleased you are being cared for correctly and that they all know your story about your beautful girl Niamh! Have they said they will deliver you early ?? I really would be sooooo scared to go over 35 weeks if I am lucky enough to be pregnant again! X

That sounds so awful! I’m so sorry that this has happened to you. The weight of the grief is so heavy in the beginning, I remember the days and nights being so low long. Have you had a funeral for Hallie yet?

I had a natural birth with Niamh, which meant that they said I had the go ahead to try again as soon as my periods came back. I guess with a placental abruption the option of a natural birth was taken away from you! I’m not sure how long they recommend to wait after a section. I think it could be around 6 months? Do you have a bereavement midwife? They can advise you best with that. It might be that you can try again straight away too! I can’t imagine how hard it’s been for you to recover from a section whilst also dealing with the loss. I really am so sorry!

I’ve been told I can have a planned section at 37 weeks this time. I’m glad of that as I was 37 weeks when I lost Niamh! I do know that my consultant at the rainbow clinic decides case by case about delivery time and in your case they may consider delivering earlier than that. They do such thorough scans though so they’d be looking for signs that the placenta is struggling/ coming away xx

@HLouise94 I think NHS say 6-12 months but the professa at my fertility clinic said 3 months to me so i feel I trust him as he is a professa in this precise field. I think NHS will say a lot of things to cover themselves. Did you have any extra medications or anythint during this pregnancy? I am soooo pleased pleased that they are delivering you at 37 weeks. I really hope
if I get pregnant again that they will let me deliver early. Hallie was so ready to come she was 6 pounds and perfect. It was the scariest time of my life i got rushed in for emergency c section as I was internally bleeding and turning blue in front of them. It has been a tough recovery looking at my scar and having the pains and injections following the c section! I was out of it on morphine when I met Hallie too so the whole thing is just a blur. I just hope that they would catch it quick enough next time, I jusr find it hard to trust them as I was in the hospital the day before with swollen hands and feet and they sent me home sayinf she was a happy baby in my belly then 4am I rush back to the hospital and she dies ! Xxxx
