Should I take morning after pill?

Been using the pull out method for almost 2 years now, due to extreme negative experiences on contraception and partner is allergic to latex so no condoms.

Failed pulling out today. 7 days until ovulation. Should I take MAP?

We aren't actively trying obviously but if it happens it happens kind of thing. Would rather prevent it rn though.

I should of said. Of course I should take it if i want to prevent pregnancy. But what are the chances of pregnancy if I don't ovulate for another week?

I had a negative experience with a MAP also.

Do you actually test for ovulation reliably each month? If you absolutely do not want a pregnancy then yes get the morning after pill, you can always ovulate early/late, so if pregnancy is an outcome you 100% don’t want then take the pill.

Given that sperm lives for several days post-sex, I'd say the chances of getting pregnant were pretty good.

Latex-free condoms are available.

If you categorically don’t want to be pregnant then take the pill and find a more reliable form of contraception going forward.
If you genuinely would be ok with being pregnant then don’t- in all honesty I think if you are happy to rely on withdrawal you would be happy to be pregnant even if subconsciously.

As someone who has just had an unwanted pregnancy in similar circumstances I would 100% take it. Having to go through a termination will mess with your body much more than the MAP!

Cupofcoffeee · 23/12/2024 17:32

You can't use the MAP as a form of contraception. Latex free condoms have existed for years and he definitely knows they exist. Copper coil doesn't contain hormones. Which hormonal contraception have you tried? How do you know you've ovulated?

Wolfpa · 23/12/2024 17:33

Why not use latex free condoms?

detaiI · 23/12/2024 17:42

SORRY WHAT

I feel so unbelievably stupid right now!!! LATEX FREE CONDOMS???

I swear I have never ever heard of those, my GP never mentioned those either. I've been multiple times about contraception and I've been to DP's appointments and I've voiced about contraception and dps allergy. No dr has ever mentioned them.

I've just text DP, no way I've never heard these exist?

I also had an unwanted pregnancy via this 'method'! Plus we had sex the day my (short) period finished so thought there was absolutely no way but turns out, there was.

Definitely take the MAP.

I'm sorry but your boyfriend 100% knew latex free condoms existed. He just wanted unprotected sex. Doctors prefer women to have the coil because men can put on condoms incorrectly etc.

Another vote for latex free condoms. He has no excuse!! And yes you can get pregnant

PigInADuvet · 23/12/2024 20:16

Is this not a discussion to be had with your partner?

BCBird · 23/12/2024 20:16

I can't cope with latex condoms. It was me with allergy not him. We used to use Skyn?

Definitely take the MAP. You don’t want a baby with a man that won’t let you know there are latex free condoms available. The pull out method is not a form of a contraceptive so get some latex free condoms and wait for the next excuse from him.

Unless you are actually tracking ovulation, there's no way to know exactly when you ovulated. So yes, if you do not want to become pregnant, take the morning after pill. Good luck.
