Hey all! I am TTC first baby - currently 4 months in and have been starting to feel a bit down! The negative tests are getting to me - does anyone else feel like this?

To provide some BG - I am 29, had Mirena IUD out in April (was in for 5 years) and prior to this was on/off pill since aged 14 which I was put on then for irregular, heavy, painful periods and acne (I sometimes worry I have undiagnosed PCOS). My periods are regular-ish since IUD removal (34-42 days) and appear fairly normal. Our life has been so hectic recently with no real free weekends for 2-3 months due to lots of weddings, work, life events etc and I do get easily stressed which I am worried is impacting fertility! I am taking Folic Acid supplements and ovulation strips each month…is there more I should be doing? I absolutely adore children and there is nothing I want more than to be a Mum and have a baby!

Would love to chat to some gals going through similar to me and share this journey together πŸ₯°

Also, just a thought. Thank goodness we have places like this we can talk! I went on my Xmas girls' night out. All been friends for years and years and share everything with each other. We spoke about everyone's lives, job losses, losing parents, poorly relatives, and general life events, but no one asked me about my difficulty TTC.

It's always avoided ... anyone else feel that way? Or do I just have crappy friends?

@BussiBop23 sorry to hear that about your friends. It can be tricky the subject of fertility I think and as women we tend to be extra sensitive not wanting to hurt the others feeling by bringing up such topic. If you want to talk about it, just bring it up because most likely they are wondering but maybe don’t know how you’ll feel talking about it. Personally I don’t mind talking about it and do so when I feel like, but similarly if the subject is not brought up, I also don’t mind.

I feel much more comfortable speaking to you ladies as you’re currently in the same phase of life as me and are much more empathetic. Think it also helps that you’re a little far removed from my life - kinda like a relationship with a therapist. You know what I mean.

Defo agree though - so blessed to have this forum honestly. Even just little things that my husband or friends/family may not understand I can always come on here and find good tips and advice and if really necessary, a willing listening ear.

Hope you’re not feeling too down about it. Also people can be a little self involved sometimes, without even meaning to be, try not to personalise it (easier said than done I know lol).

x

I’m sorry you didn’t get a chance to talk to them about it. I find that it is always avoided as a subject. I wouldn’t put it down to just your friends. As we all know, it can be a very sore subject and often we are not even aware of who is going through it so bringing it up in a group setting can be tricky. I also think before people have begun trying they do not really understand what its like.

Are there any of your friends that you can share with on a 1:1 basis? Perhaps others on a ttc journey who will have a bit more understanding.

So glad I found this thread - we're starting ttc in Jan 2025, first time so looking forward to reading everyone's tips on here!

Hi everyone,

We’ve been loosely trying for our first for about 5 months (by loosely I mean I tend to know when I’m ovulating naturally & with apps etc), though at 37y/o I’m starting to feel like I may have missed the boat & may need to look into things a bit more seriously. I’ve also discovered I have a low leutal phase as I tend to spot up to 3 days before my period, so this month I’ve taken vitamin b6 to try & help this.

On Friday (11dpo) I got a faint blue line with Clear Blue early detection & same again Saturday (12dpo), but during last night the Clear Blue Digital said β€˜Not Pregnant.’ I’ve since been down a rabbit hole about Clear Blue evap lines & decided it must be that (my lines are faint/thin but bright blue, though they did come up within 60secs). My period is due tomorrow - no spotting, but that might be the B6.

All this to say I have never been more aware of - yet so confused by - my body since TTC 🀯 the joys!

Wishing everyone else the best of luck ❀️

Any of you ladies have sore boobs from o up until period? I always do but this cycle no pain! Hoping lack of symptoms is a sign.
x

Hi @Tallgirl91, I have had sore boobs after I’ve ovulated for as long as I can remember, this is the first month it hasn’t happened. This is also the first month I’ve taken vitamin b6, which I know helps with pms so could be that.

TTC is a magical mystery ride I feel!

Hi everyone, so glad I found this thread for first time mums to be!

I'm 32 and we've been ttc 5 months now, IUD removed in August. Currently 7dpo. No real symptoms yet but I know it's early and keeping fingers crossed for this month.

CharlOctober · 31/12/2024 13:26

So glad I've found this thread!

I'm TTC for the first time, came off the pill in October and just been letting my periods settle down since then really. I've had a 38 day and a 36 day cycle so looking like I probably have longer cycles. Tempted to test ovulation using the daily tests because apparently it can happen later with longer cycles but a couple of friends have advised to hold off for as long as possible because it's easy to become obsessed with them..

What are you guys all using to track? I've got the Flo app but considering Natural Cycles as it looks like it might be a bit more accurate. Flo keeps assuming I'm on a 28 day cycle every month! Hope everyone has managed to enjoy Christmas while TTC!

I use Flo and Fertility Friend to track, though I prefer FF. Flo makes a lot of assumptions. I know a lot of others use Premom - not tried it myself but heard good things.

Hiya! Welcome best of luck TTC ☺️

I’ve been using Flo but also PreMom as I’m using the ovulation kits, not done it for a full month yet though lol.

My period is late but I did a test and it’s negative so I’m worried I’ve managed to stress myself out thinking about it haha.

FancyTaupeDog · 09/01/2025 08:58

Hi team. Had a chemical pregnancy after my first cycle in June and nothing since. Also have Hashimotos. Fingers crossed for 2025!

S4mmyj90 · 09/01/2025 09:07

@FancyTaupeDog I'm in the same boat. Chemical in August and nothing since. Keep getting all the symptoms every month but then af appears.

Aj269 · 09/01/2025 13:13

A fellow Hashimotos gal here - hey!! πŸ‘‹πŸΌ are you doing anything different? So far I’ve just checked bloods which seem fine and I’m taking conceive plus as it’s known to be a little harder for us sometimes.

2petrabbits · 09/01/2025 19:27

Anyone else using ovulation sticks? I have been for months. Because of my job I find it really hard to do them at a good time. I have heard 2nd wee of the day is the right one?

I can’t do that so I do 1st and 3rd (around 6am and anywhere from 5-7pm). I had 1 clear peak in September but nothing before or since. It’s always just low and varies from 0.5-0.15. I’m wondering if it’s because of the time I’m doing them or because there’s something wrong.

also worth mentioned the peak I found was using boots ovulation sticks (the peak was 0.88 and everything else was lower than 0.1) every other month I have used easy @ home and it has never been as high at 0.88 or as low as 0.07. Could it be the brand? I’ve been through 3 boxes of easy @ home.

Marvelftw · 09/01/2025 23:43

@2petrabbits Can’t comment on the brand (I just use a cheap bundle I bought off eBay) but my opk’s have been working better since I started using them from 10-7pm. Apparently if you can do it when you haven’t been to the toilet for a bit that helps too?

I upload the picture onto Premom and it’s really picky about the lighting but it successfully read I was having a high reading after three days of lows.

CosyHiker · 10/01/2025 07:09

Hi everyone, glad I found this group. Hoping for good news for all of us. Have been TTC since Feb last year - had a CP in March and a MMC at 11 weeks in September. It’s so tough!

I’ve been using easy @ home strips (in the mornings) which I’ve found really helpful. Was temp tracking to begin with but doing this every day was getting way too stressful for me haha. We had been trying to DTD every day in fertile window but that also added to stress. Now trying every other day which has made me feel way more relaxed.

Trying to keep a positive mindset but it’s hard sometimes. Have been getting very into my hobbies, cooking, going to the gym which helps me.

Aj269 · 10/01/2025 16:14

First test of 2025 today, obviously negative otherwise I would’ve started a lot more jolly. How many tests do you guys use and when’s the best timing of the month? I find I get so impatient/excited and probably do it too early.

BussiBop23 · 11/01/2025 10:41

@Aj269 Hi! I'm not sure how long you've been trying, but I'm on 2+ years now. Over that time, I've found that not testing and just waiting to see if AF arrives is the best and least stressful way.

The time I've spent obsessively looking for faint lines, holding tests in different lights, googling for info on evap lines, e.c.t.was way more stressful and time-consuming than just distracting myself and waiting it out.

Obviously, each to their own, but just thought I would share because I wish I stopped testing early way before I did!

Wishing you all the best!!

Yeah you’re totally right, it doesn’t matter either way does it. And I can totally feel I’m becoming obsessive already. Bound to save money too. Thanks for the advice, and good luck on the rest of your TTC journey πŸ’“πŸ™πŸΌ

Let 2025 be our year, truly….
I expected to get pregnant super quickly because I always had great, regular cycles yet here I am, on cycle 8 already, in disbelief.

I have gone to have fertility investigations early and already discovered a few months ago that there might be issues which massively bring me down and I am having a really hard time right now.
After discovering an endmetrioma cyst which may suggest endometriosis, my world came crashing down. I always thought this is the last condition I could possibly ever have!
My husband’s results were very good but his morphology was very low, again shocked me massively due to our healthy lifestyle, supplements etc.
Now I am just praying that we can still get pregnant naturally, however long that may take. My biggest dream was always to have a big family so this is incredibly hard for me.
I wasn’t sure if I could post this, but I think it is important to spread awareness since these conditions are so common, even despite having no symptoms like me, and investigating early is going to (hopefully) save us time.

Hey your message stood out to me because I was/am in the same situation as you. I was having β€œbladder” issues last year and went for an ultrasound on my bladder and it was there they diagnosed me as having an endometrioma cyst, I was shocked too because I literally have zero symptoms of endometriosis. I am currently on the waiting list still to see the gynaecologist about the cyst. I am now 5 weeks pregnant on my 4th cycle ttc, praying everything will be ok cos the cyst is quite large. I have been using Flo and ovulation tests to track ovulation, and using supplements from ovum which I believe helped me. I’d been taking them for a whole month and it eased the symptoms of my cyst which I was surprised about and then I got my BFP. Wishing baby dust to everyone
