Do diet & lifestyle changes make a difference when TTC?

Hello - I’ve been TTC for a year now and still no success.

I’m looking at changing my diet now to try and improve chances. I’ve just recently read it starts with the egg so I’m looking at generally:

  • lower carb or lower GI carb
  • higher protein
  • more veg
  • healthy fats, olive oil, nuts etc
  • organic meat but mostly veg/fish protein sources
  • supplements - vitamin D, coq10, wild nutrition fertility supplement, omega 3
  • strength training
  • avoid too much sugar
  • using glass Tupperware
  • avoiding too much canned food (once I’m through my pantry incredients)

With all of this I’m taking a 90:10 approach as it is Christmas.

I’m a bit overweight BMI but not obese so looking to try and lose a few kgs.

Has anyone overhauled their diet and lifestyle and actually had success?

It does feel like quite a lot to do but after reading it starts with the egg I do think working on insulin resistance might help.

My TSH levels were a bit low…

It couldn’t hurt to eat healthier and to take supplements. I have to ask though - are you tracking ovulation correctly too? Two of my friends were also just a tiny bit over weight for their height. They did eat better, cut out alcohol and caffeine. They both became mums this year 🙂

I lost 10% of my body weight and conceived DD2 naturally, when I needed to have fertility treatment to conceive DD1. So I'm very much of the view that diet and lifestyle can make a big difference.

Edit to add that I have PCOS, so that was rather against me to start with as well as my weight.

@Lulu89x yes I am I’m using the Mira app which tracks lh levels during the month + CM and BBT.

I’ve had day 21 progesterone tests too everything says I’m ovulating.

I’m now being referred to the fertility clinic by the nhs but figure lifestyle stuff might help while I wait for medical investigations.
